A cold December morning in Memphis (a native Chicagoan would have called it brisk), sent me on a search for a coffee that would make me miss my wife and newborn son a little less; it would not just perk me up, but also provide the warmth I was longing for from my better half and put a smile on my financial advisors face.
As I walked away from a place where dreams were assassinated, I found myself on a street less than ordinary. The establishment I was in search of would have been missed if it was for my GPS telling at me that I had arrived. The only sign was on the sidewalk and could easily be missed it a car were strategically parked in front of it.
The storefront was unassuming and I thought I was in the wrong place, but when I opened the door, I noticed the counter inside a large boutique.
Her smile and greeting started to fought the cold that wanted to stick to me. Sadie (I hope it was the common spelling) was her name.
I looked over the menu on the counter, which she proudly said she creates herself and wanted to order everything, but I asked for something that would make me feel...Mom, and I hugged myself. A couple questions and suggestions later I decided on the Campfire.
It checked all the boxes. Why would anyone choose Novadollars over this place?
Sadie was like someone you would read about in a magical fiction, mixing just the right amount of warmth, care, and kindness into something that was sold as coffee.
Anyone can make coffee, but not every coffee can make...

I started off with the chai latte which was okay. I drink a ton of black tea and usually steer away from any āchaiā at coffee shops. But Tea is included in the shopās name so I thought Iād give it a try. Again, it was just okay. Not horrible but Iām not convinced there was any black tea in it at all. Just milk with some spice. Wouldnāt recommend if you enjoy strong quality black tea. 3/5
I then tried their cappuccino with simple syrup. Not bad! 4/5
The shop shares space with a clothing boutique. The actual coffee shop was clean with a decent amount of seating. Thereās a power strip close to the window seating but didnāt appear to have many others. Noise was at a minimum and if youāre studying you could get good work done. Though I had a good experience, I canāt say that Iād return. But I would recommend giving...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis isn't just my favorite coffee shop in town; it's a true community gem. I make it a point to visit almost every weekday, and for good reason. The staff are incredibly kindāthey always have a warm greeting and treats ready for my dogs, which is a small touch that means so much. And of course, the coffee is consistently excellent! Beyond the fantastic coffee and friendly faces, what truly sets this place apart is their heart for the community. Recently, they went above and beyond by helping me purchase a bicycle for someone who needed community support, and is a frequent guest of the business. This act of generosity speaks volumes about their character. If you're anywhere downtown, this coffee shop is an absolute must-stop, not just for a great cup of coffee, but to support a business that...
