Just to start this out as honestly as i can, we had just gotten out of a 6+ hour long drive so we were hungry and sorta didn't care about what to get just knew we wanted food! With that being said this food was amazing, we both got the Veggie Burrito and a fountain drink. Food didn't take long to get to us, we were seated upstairs, which on its own is a completely different experience that we weren't expecting, you walk into a small entrance where you can see the cooks making the orders and you place your order at the counter, not gonna lie the downstairs isn't much to look at but I do appreciate being able to see the cooks, not for security or anything, just because you don't see that too often. After you make your order you're walked upstairs and seated in this very nice large room with many tables chairs and even a bar! We came towards the middle of the day so we didn't experience any drinks unfortunately. Beautiful space, great design and lots of natural lighting, the atmosphere was very nice and refreshing. The food, now the food was super surprising not to say that we're expecting it to be bad but in my experience anything Veggie or vegetarian usually has a tendency of being a bit bland and or being filled with lettuce where the meat would've been, which is sad because that means many places rely heavily on meat to bring the flavor, but our burritos were so delicious! The burritos had lots of flavor with nothing overpowering anything but instead everything complimenting everything else rather well, they had actually used potatoes in the burritos as the protein replacement and i was very much elated at that, because let's be honest you can do so much with potatoes and they absolutely paired well in the burrito, I personally don't like spicy anything so when I saw jalapeños I was a bit worried, but they're actually pickled jalapeños with other vegetables and they added such a fresh taste and nice bite I was very much pleasantly surprised. The dish was served with beans and rice both of which were also delicious nothing too much to say about them but very good sides. I definitely recommend this place, prices are actually low for food this good! Definitely...
Read moreI CANNOT say enough positive things about this place and their staff. First off, the food is always on point and absolutely delicious but let me tell you how these folks go ABOVE AND BEYOND mere customer service. Maciel's isnt new to me and I send people I know to eat there all the time. So, here I am tonight on my first day off in 22 days. I'm tired, I don't feel like driving OR cooking. So, what do I do? What everyone does. Hello Grubhub. I order through grubhub, my food gets here and I'm just beside myself. I live in West Memphis so it isn't a simple case of reorder and part of my meal isn't even there and what is-- is wrong. I'm not one to usually complain. I've worked in the resturant industry, I know how it is so if I'm saying something there's good reason. I call Maciel's directly and the manager (JESSICA!!) acknowledges immediately that she knows what order I'm speaking of because she's looking at my missing item, and listens as I explain what was missing and wrong with the rest of it. She apologizes (naturally) and I expect that to be the end of it. I had no intention of taking it further than letting them know I was disappointed and someone wasn't paying attention when they put together their online orders. Jessica lets me know that she's determined to fix this but she's trying to figure out how with me being unable to come get my food (car was in Little Rock with Mom-In-Law) and us not really crossing the bridge much plus being pretty far out for a staff member to bring my missing and remade food to me. She asks if I will hold a moment and I do. HONEY! This girl knocked it out of the park. In her determination to make it right and ensure my family got their dinner she got permission to send a staff member all the way over here to bring me not only my missing food but my remade food as well. And the absolute SLAM DUNK?! All at no cost to me!!!-- eventhou I offered gas money for her staff member because I get it. Gas prices are ridiculous!! Y'all. This place. These people. Wow. THANK YOU JESSICA AND MACIELS! You guys are above...
Read moreThe fam and I were on our way home from a road trip and it was taking us trough Memphis, so I searched for the best restaurants in town. Maciel's was one of them, so we added the stop on our GPS! We were all so glad that we did. All the food was amazing. I wanted to order one of each, but I knew it couldn't. We were seated with chips and salsa. I added guacamole, which they didn't charge us for and it was amazing and fresh. I love how they keep it chunky and not mashed. I got the fried shrimp tacos that comes with rice and refried beans. They were delish. I also ordered elotes! YUUUMMMM! The crema was mmmm mmmm good! I had leftovers and they made it all the way home. I ate them the next day. Of course, my taco was soggy, but I cut the corn off the cob of my elotes and reheated the kernels and threw a glob of butter on it and the rest of the crema from the foil and went to town.
The staff is also so friendly. It's seemed like half the customers were regulars because they greeted them like they knew them. There's also an upstairs area for additional seating that I heard people asking to go to. As we were leaving, they greeted us goodbye. I didn't...
