An experience with extremely poor customer service and an unexpected souvenir.
Weāve always loved visiting the Peabody and the gift shop seemed like the perfect place to browse for a little keepsake while we waited for the famous ducks to arrive. Little did we know, weād be leaving with a very special (and very broken) souvenirāa ceramic duck, which weāve since named Chad after the manager who questioned our honesty.
The incident itself was an innocent accidentāour young daughter gently bumped into a low table, causing Chad the Duck to take an unfortunate dive. No reckless behavior, no mishandling, just an unfortunate placement of fragile items in a high-traffic area. Instead of a reasonable discussion, we were promptly required to purchase the broken duck and were met with skepticism when we explained what happened.
What made matters worse was how dismissively the staff handled the situation. Despite us bringing the broken duck to their attention ourselves, they refused to engage with my wife, avoided eye contact, and simply wrapped Chad up in silence like an awkward mob exchange. To top it off, they even tried to throw away Chadās footārendering him about as useless as his namesakeāuntil we insisted on keeping the whole duck (if we were going to pay for him, we were at least taking all of him home).
We understand that stores have to account for losses, but making customers pay for accidents caused by poor store layout and handling it with such cold indifference doesnāt exactly scream hospitality. That being said, if anyone is in the market for a soon to be repaired ceramic duck with a great backstory, let us knowāChad is looking for a new home.
While this experience was disappointing, we still love the hotel and hope future visits bring more relaxing memoriesā¦and fewer unexpected purchases. Who knows we might bring Chad back to see where...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI arrived in Memphis after considerable travel problems that led to my wife and I checking into our hotel with no luggage and about 3 hours until we board a shuttle to a black tie wedding. After consulting a few people on options, they all said my best/only chance to get ourselves dressed would be Lansky Brothers.
I arrived in the store on a mission but completely out of my element. A salesman passed me and appeared busy but offered his assistance. He couldn't have made it easier. He found my jacket size and pulled everything he had that would fit me. Even on a crunched timeline I must have tried 6-8 jackets. When I chose one, I had barely turned around before he had pulled a shirt and pants to go with it. He completed the suit with socks, belt, tie, shoes. I was in need of help from head-to-toe. I ended up ready for the wedding early and have never received so many compliments on my clothing.
I mentioned to my wife, who had successfully found a dress on the women's side before I had even finished, on the way to our hotel that I hoped that salesman received a large commission because he was so incredibly helpful. As I settled back into our room, I looked at the business card he had stapled to my receipt and to my surprise it was Hal Lansky himself that had given me that care. To top it off, he introduced me to one of the Sharks from Shark Tank as I was checking out. The Shark was doing some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI posted the below on 9/13/23... I was pretty mad. The manager called me back and told me that the manufacturer wanted to see the pants to correct the problem. They also told me they would send me another pair of pants of similar value. This was a much better outcome than below. Thank you Lansky Bros. for re-visiting this issue and following through.
Posted: 9-13-23 I stayed at the Peabody in July 2023. My wife and I went shopping at Lansky brothers and brought over $1000 worth of clothes. One pair of pants cost $200. Every time I wore the pants the outside seam would move to the front of my leg. The pants were constructed wrong. I sent them back and they would not replace it. The manager said he spoke to Mr Lansky and he said he made the decision.
In all fairness the other products I purchased, I wear and like but this made me mad and I will NEVER shop there again.
Stay away they donāt stand by...
