It's a cool, kind of eclectic place - a welcome change for Mesquite. I found the flavor of the food was good; one problem was the temperature of the waffle. It was cold, and I do not know if it was good because of that. On to the service. Service (post 2020) is just not what it used to be. I know that. So, to help out, I always ask for everything I need upfront so that waitstaff can move on to others. So, when we ordered, I asked for butter, extra syrup and strawberry jam. This is before any of our food came out. When the order came out, there was no butter, jam or syrup. Now, syrup is a given with a waffle. I have no idea how someone sent a waffle out of the kitchen without syrup, and I blame my waiter for that. The waiter should have communicated to kitchen staff. Nevertheless, I told the young lady who brought the food we needed butter, strawberry jam and syrup. She disappeared and never returned. For the next ten minutes, I sat there trying to flag people down, raising my hand - like you do in school, only to be passed over and over. I ate all of my hashbrowns and another member of our party and I sat there for ten minutes our biscuits and (already cold) waffle getting colder. Finally, I saw our waiter at the table next to us, I got his attention and kind of got the signal to wait. Now, I understand waiting my turn, but my turn was never completed. Finally, he came over, I mentioned that we had been waiting awhile for butter, syrup, and strawberry jam. (The third person was now finished eating. This was my original waiter, so he knew how long we had waited. Still, he brought me cold syrup for a now ice cold waffle. The flavor of the food was good, but the service was poor, and the prices are a bit high for such poor service. It was my first and...
Read moreA solid up-and-coming 6th location of an already well-established DFW breakfast chain, the Mesquite Seven Mile Care is definitely a restaurant to keep an eye on this year. There isn't anything quite like it in the Mesquite area and they absolutely deserve to do well.
The vibe (atmosphere and decoration) on the inside is very comfortable. Really trendy and current. The seating area is LARGE with plenty of space in between tables. By the time my husband and I left (around 11 on a Sunday), the establishment was very full and it didn't feel loud or crowded at all.
The food was delicious, it was well prepared and was served within a reasonable timeframe. I got the Berry Dream Stuffed French Toast with a side of crispy hash browns and the Seven Mile Latte. My husband got the Southern Benny with sausage, a cookies & cream Pancake, hash browns, and a Seven Mile Latte as well. We were happy with the portions and taste. They have a giant menu with plenty of vegan and gluten-sensitive options.
Service was good. We had a waitress that had started only two weeks ago. I wish I could remember her name but she had gorgeous red, holiday nails and she really did a good job despite being a bit nervous. Please pass on my compliments to her.
My only critique of the place is the price is a bit high. But it's obvious this place is taking itself seriously. There were a lot of staff training and it looked like there was a training manager on-site, quizzing staff and asking us if everything was going well. So I think with time this review will change to a 5-star rating.
Otherwise, we will be back in the future and I am excited for Mesquite to have a trendy, young establishment like this in the area. There is a huge clientele for this kind of place and I want to...
Read moreWe were going to try this place out, granted even though it was busy, it takes two seconds for someone after you seat at the bar to look at you and say be with you in just a moment, welcome, anything. But the individual behind the bar was having a personal conversation with two other customers, and the other gentleman behind the bar was busy talking to some pretty girl I'm assuming he was flirting with, he did look back and then turn back around talking to her. This is just rude I don't care how busy you are I grew up in the industry, and if you're going to treat customers, like this then you're going to fail massively I don't care how busy you are how popular you are, you will eventually end up failing because you have crappy service when it comes to just acknowledging someone walking in the door. The only people that acknowledge this when we walked in the door where the hostess is, beyond that nothing. Another major issue with this location is the severe I don't mean a little I mean severe, lack of parking! We circled the parking lot like a buzzard for at least 10 minutes not joking even stopped and parked in an alternate parking lot of a competitor establishment, just to wait for someone to move. All in all, not worth my time, not wasting my time, and I will not be ignored by people in a service industry who should be acknowledging you as soon as you hit that table within seconds if at all possible and within the first minute for certain. The really sad part is that this reflects on management just as much if not more so than it reflects on the servers. I don't think we'll be back! And what really sucks, is that this place had several not just a few but several gluten-free options...
