This place looked like an authentic Mexican restaurant so we wanted to give it a shot. We ordered 2 tacos, after waiting close to 1hr the server brought some chips but just left it on the table, did not mention anything in regards to our meal or even an apology. Soon after that I asked the server where our meals were and he went to the kitchen to check. We got our tacos shortly after. The tacos were OK. Nothing exciting. The rice we were served was super dry. It seemed like the rice was left out for a good day. The refried beans we were served had very different consistency. My girlfriend’s beans were water like, mine had the consistency they should. I’ve never ever complained about food at any restaurant I’ve been to but I had to this time. The manager came out and apologized. He said he would “try” to give us a discount. Not sure why he has to try if he’s the manager. We got a 15% “local people” discount. The tip alone that’s included in the bill is 20%. I’ve worked in restaurants and kitchens for 4 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. Also not sure how they get all these 5 star reviews. They seem to get them every 30 mins so it seems very fishy. Just don’t go. Save...

We were just wandering around looking for a place to grab lunch when we stumbled upon this cute little Mexican-themed spot—and wow, what a pleasant surprise!

The vibe was really cheerful and welcoming, with colorful decor and upbeat music that made us feel like we were on vacation all over again. We decided to sit down and give it a try, and we’re so glad we did.

The food was absolutely delicious! The tacos were packed with flavor—fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and just the right amount of spice. We also tried a couple of cocktails, and they were super refreshing (and strong in a good way!). But the real showstopper? The dessert. It was out of this world—sweet, creamy, and the perfect ending to the meal.

What really made the experience stand out, though, was our server. He was incredibly friendly and warm, the kind of person who makes you feel instantly at home. He took the time to chat with us, made great recommendations, and just had a great energy overall.

It turned out to be one of our favorite meals of the trip. We’ll definitely be...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Don Sombrero’s in Miami South Beach and was lucky enough to be served by Pia. Right from the start, Pia set a warm and welcoming tone. She has an exceptional eye for detail, making sure our table had everything we needed without us even asking. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she guided us through the dishes with enthusiasm, recommending a few house specials that ended up being fantastic.

Pia seemed to genuinely care about our dining experience. She checked in at all the right moments, but it never felt intrusive – she had that perfect balance that you don’t often find. Her passion for hospitality was clear, and she brought a fun, positive energy to the meal. If you’re at Don Sombrero’s, I’d recommend asking for Pia – she elevates the experience and makes you feel like a VIP.

Her exceptional service really added something special to our evening. Thanks to Pia, Don Sombrero’s isn’t just another Mexican restaurant in South Beach; it’s a place I’ll be...

What a wonderful surprise. This small little Mexican restaurant that is on Collin’s and 8th is unbelievably so darn good. I say a surprise because it’s a diamond a dozen. I mean with so many places to dine in South Beach this is definitely the one to choose. We had the Birria tacos and the Mahi Mahi tacos. The birria was to die for. The mouth watering beef that just melts in your mouth with a dip in the consume and the fresh Mahi Mahi delightful and light! Also ordered the fresh Guac with double serving of chips because it was a plentiful serving. Isai our waiter was so attentive and with his suggestions to the menu he did not steer us wrong. He did talk us into the medium Mojito!!! LOL… They were huge we laughed. The manager came over and after we got our food he was so nice to remind us if we stay in the hotel we get a 15% off. That was super nice!! All in all I give it a 110%… thank you!!! Abuelas Tacos we are coming back tomorow 🤣 Alicia our neighboring diners also gives it thumbs up :)

If you're craving an authentic slice of Mexico without boarding a plane, look no further than Abuela's Tacos. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted by a vibrant atmosphere, complete with Mexican music that sets a lively, feel-good tone. The real gem of Abuela's Tacos is its outstanding staff. Our server, Esteban, was a highlight of the evening. With a genuine smile and deep knowledge of the menu. The tacos are, without a doubt, the stars of the menu. Each bite is a sensory delight, featuring fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. Whether you opt for the classic al pastor, the savory carne asada, or one of the delicious vegetarian options, every taco is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a true love for Mexican cooking. If you're looking for a meal that combines excellent food, a welcoming atmosphere, and impeccable service, this place is a must-visit. Thanks to Esteban and the entire team for making our evening so memorable. ¡Hasta la próxima!

This is for sure one of the best Latin restaurants in South Beach and most likely in whole Miami Beach. I was there numerous times and the food is delicious (rip eye tacos with beautifully soft meat, very tasty chicken tacos, the avocados used are so soft they melt in your mouth), the cocktails perfectly mixed with top quality tequila and the desserts (I had the Flan) plus a tequila on the house at the end round up a very good dinner experience. Service was great, one can sit at the bar as well (thanks David!) and prices are reasonable compared to other SoBe establishments, especially when taking the quality into account. BTW. This is a real review, I am not affilliated with the owners, I just rate given my experience as a person who spent a good part of his life in Miami and have comparisons. Yes, there is 20% service added to the check automatically, but this is now the norm in ALL SoBe restaurants and bars. So no logic in accusing this place for it.
