I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It has a simple rustic look and feel. The restaurant was clean, including the restrooms. To start your dining experience, bread is served in a small brown paper bag, along with a bottle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was a bit stale and bland, but was flavorful once we dipped it into the olive oil and balsamic vinegar mixture we created on a small serving plate. Our server was very friendly and the staff was attentive. Our dinner arrived quickly and steaming hot. Our pasta dishes were tasty, but we have had better pasta elsewhere in Miami. Considering the fact that we live in Broward and make the drive to Miami to explore different restaurants, we will not be returning to this one because we don't feel the effort is worth it. We have gone out of our way many times to attend other restaurants in Miami that are always excellent. For dinner and the parking fee our bill was just over $50, which was a tad over priced for the quality of the meal. If you can't find parking near the restaurant and are not using uber, the restaurant has a designated lot across the street for a $10 fee, which is added to the dinner bill. You have to pull up by the restaurant, grab the electronic key from the hostess, and then go park. You return the key when you enter the restaurant again and have to ask for it again when you need to leave. Once your car is out the lot, you need to pull up to the restaurant again and return the key. It's a lot of back and forth. I would normally just chalk it up to be a minor annoyance, BUT you have to do this in Miami where the traffic is heavy and the drivers are less than ideal so this can become a larger and more dangerous task...
Read moreWhy didn't I find this place sooner? Better late than never. Now let me begin by telling you that when I arrived, there was a lady folding the tiny pieces of tortellini and stuffing them all before my eyes, all fresh and from scratch, check. The place is cozy, very rustic looking and very Italian and the service is excellent so I wanted to get that out of the way. Now let's talk about this amazing home made fresh pasta dish that I had for lunch... Thad a hard time choosing a dish but after reading some reviews, opted for the delicious Tagliatelle Ragu or more known as Bolognese sauce. Needless to say since I mentioned it before, the pasta is made here, fresh and ready to be cooked so this Tagliatelle was cooked to perfection. The Ragu was some of the best Ragu l've ever tasted with the right amount of tomato sauce but perfectly balanced with the ground beef. The sauce had the perfect dose of acidity and the texture that a good Bolognese sauce should come with. I really did enjoy this dish a lot and can't wait to try the tortellini, another popular item on the menu. But let me tell you about this Tiramisu.... Hands down, without a doubt, the best take on Tiramisu. This Tiramisu tasted like it was made by a divine being lol. I had to go back and praise the chef and shake his hand for making such an incredible dessert. The presentation alone is very impressive but the the taste, the fluffiness, the perfect balance between custard and coffee, it's all well thought out. You will see how this thing looks on the photo I posted along with review but photos don't do it justice. My advise…order one for yourself and don't share it because that could break friendships and/or relationships lot,...
Read moreVia Emilia is an absolute gem. The menu is authentically bolognese in every detail and praised by all my friends from Bologna, the quality of the ingredients is top notch, and the execution+presentation of each dish has left all the guests I've taken here stunned.
I've come here several times, the first time my face melted on the gnocco fritto + prosciutto, a simple dish where the quality of the ingredients make the difference between a disappointment and an unforgettable experience. Then I had their spaghetti con le vongole, a dish that I don't order that often but after that evening I couldn't stop thinking about. Other dishes that cannot be missed are the cotoletta alla bolognese and the tortellini with parmesan cream, although honestly you can't go wrong with any item on the menu.
The staff and the chef are incredibly friendly (and good looking although this doesn't matter!) and they show concretely their appreciation for a regular customer. The physical space is also worth a mention: upscale while not pretentious, cozy while not divy, stylish while not overwhelming it's equally fit for an intimate date, a quiet evening with a good friend and a prime choice of a destination to leave an impression (on eg a special visitor). I really love the little touch of the vintage musical instruments hanging from the wall here and there.
In summary, top...
