I had a chance to stop by during their long awaited opening week, and here's the good, and the not so good about my experience.
The good: The brewery is awesome. I'm sure they'll tweak a few things, but the space is great for groups, watching sports events, and of course taking down some delicious beers. If you aren't familiar with their brews, I would highly suggest ordering a flight so that you can easily find a favorite or two. I definitely have a few...the Marlins Lager being one of them. The service was good, it could have been better, nut I don't think it was anything to do with the staff. We were told and it's actually posted on their menu proudly that the food was from another concept called Meat & Bone. *I'll touch base on that later
The bad: Now I don't like writing bad things about a restaurant, but in this case I think the owners need to take this in and rethink their partnership or who they allow to proudly serve food in their space. Menu is huge, overpriced, and doesn't scream beer brewery. I get it, this is Miami, and we are accustom to seeing certain things on the menu. But the menu here doesn't pair well with the beer & the vibe. We ordered a few things...$18 for tiny chicken wings? Pigeon wings are larger and honestly probably more tasty than that what we were served (yikes!) $18 Blue Fin Tuna Tataki, was actually more filling than the chicken "wings", but doesn't make sense at a brewery? $24 "Wagyu" crustini's...would have been great (but still doesn't make sense at a brewery) if it was actually an edible cut of beef. Definitely not wagyu...or if it was, it was very low grade. At that point it's just putting a name on the menu as a selling point. Which now brings me to the wagyu burger. I ordered the burger and was asked, "how I would like it", so I ordered the burger medium. After a pretty long wait for the burger, it finally came out and the burger wasn't cooked to medium. It was more like medium well on the border of being well done. Since we shared the burger, I tried cutting it in half and it was so tough, that it took a lot of work to get through the burger. The burger would have possibly been good if it had been cooked correctly.
The bad, but fixable: At first it was a little hard to find the brewery. I would suggest a cool neon sign outside the entrance, and light up the lobby/entryway. If the hostess wouldn't have been down in the lobby, we would have never known where it was.
The brewery has a ton of potential. But for now, they need to rethink the food. Hopefully sooner than later, because it would be a shame for them to loose out on the ever growing downtown crowd over something that I would think could be easily fixed.
I would have given a higher rating, but the food just isn't there. Till the next time Biscayne Brewing Company! Hopefully the food will change sooner that later when I make...
Read moreMy Thoughts are a little bit confused regarding the experience at Biscayne Bay, but regardless I will give it a 4 stars. Upon arrival, we were amazed by the look of the place (5 stars) and the overall ambiance/atmosphere. I made a reservation for 8, we arrived about 30 min prior as we knew it was going to be a busy night. We could not find anyone that would walk us to our reserved table so we waited standing. After a while, someone walked us in a separate area with two long tables, which we loved as we had a screen right in front of us. After about 20-30 min of us sitting at the table, nobody bothered to come and take the order. I had to go multiple times to the bar asking if they could send someone. FInally someone appeared: we ordered 8 beers and 2 appetizers. Beers came after 10-15 min. What about the food? Two appetizers took more than 2 hours. At that point we were only 4 people, we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. While we were having the first round, no server ever came and asked if everything was alright or if we needed anything else. When the group was complete, we wanted to order more beers and food, I had to go again to the bar and ordered with a really nice lady/bartender and the order arrived right away.
the main reason why we were at that bar, was to watch the Copa america cup and I specifically requested a place where we could watch near a screen, which was accommodated and it was perfect. The only thing I did not like at all is that when you watch a game, you want to hear the audio. There was absolutely NO AUDIO. Please arrange to buy a speaker for the room, as it was NOT a nice experience watching a final game without the audio. Server attempted to add the audio with no success, which was the main reason the group behind us left. We spent close to $500.00 for an overall "not so ok" service and no audio, a discount was not offered for the trouble, instead the offered us two beers at first and at the end they offered a few more. Before the end of the game we were asked to close the tab, which we declined as we were in the middle of the game.
The reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 3 is because I really liked the look of the bar and the beers were EXCEPTIONAL!
With that being said, I will be back to give it another try, maybe not for a final game, unless they provide a speaker with the audio.
See you soon, hopefully for a 5...
Read moreIf you’re not looking for this hidden gem situated in a revitalized old Post Office building in the heart of downtown or 12 min walk from the Heat Arena, you may miss it, but don’t — This place offers locally crafted beers, scrumptious small bites and hosts trivia nights on Thursdays!!
My fiancé, 2 friends and I visited here after finding their trivia night listed on Eventbrite, but the bites and signature cocktails stole the show. My fiancé loves whisky sour as, but most places skip the egg white frost on top of the cocktail which is his favorite garnish on a whiskey sour. He was very impressed by the flavoring of the drink was which rich and smooth without the harsh bite of the bitters.
We also tried their Spicy Passion, Clarified Piña Colada and their classic Old Fashioned (all delish), but the Smoked Rum Old Fashioned had such a fun presentation, was super aromatic and oh so tasty!
Small bites shared: BBB Nachos with Pulled pork were so good we ordered another round. Bluefin Tuna Tataki was so fresh, hearty and perfectly seared, plus we loved the aiolis for dipping. Wagyu Picanha Tartare with its crunchy crostini’s, homemade chimichurri, avocado and lightly flamed wagyu was in a word, heavenly.
The host was lovely and trivia night was fun but challenging . I like that you answer the questions on your phone after scanning a QR code so people aren’t yelling all the time. I know that they’re still newish at hosting, but the acoustics made it very difficult to hear the questions being read so get a table near the front if you can — was told they’d be getting acoustic foam to help with this later. Also as a suggestion, putting the questions on the big screen as opposed to football from 2021 would’ve been helpful.
Overall LOVE, love, LOVED this place and will Absolutely be back with more...
