This was my first time at the restaurant, and I loved the rooftop ambiance and aesthetic. The atmosphere was lively, with music that transitioned into a fun party vibe as the night went on. I arrived at 6:30 PM for dinner and stayed until about 1 AM to experience the shift from a calm dinner setting to an upbeat nightlife scene.
I didn’t have a reservation but walked in, and the hostesses were very welcoming, seating me in a great area despite not booking ahead. After dinner, I ordered a hookah, which was one of the best I’ve had. The music was enjoyable without being too loud, allowing my guests and I to have conversations comfortably.
Unfortunately, the service from our waiter wasn’t the best. He was aggressive and rushed me to order, despite me arriving early and the kitchen being far from closing. He hovered around our table, and even after apologizing, he still seemed impatient. When our food arrived, the entire order was incorrect, but he quickly corrected the appetizers, which were delicious—thick-cut French fries with black truffle and a huge, shareable 12 oz meatball. One order of each was enough for two or more people.
For entrees, we had the salmon with mashed potatoes and the NY steak. Both were flavorful, and the steak was especially juicy. The food was so good that I almost forgot about the subpar service. By 11:30 PM, the restaurant fully transitioned into a party vibe with music, sparklers, and even a free round of tequila shots for the entire restaurant, which was a fun touch.
We had leftovers and asked for to-go boxes, but the waiter returned with one bag containing a single box. When I checked, I realized he had combined both of our completely different dishes into one container when it should have been two separate boxes. My guest and I were going our separate ways and weren’t even a couple, so it made no sense to pack our meals together. He offered to take it back and separate them, but I declined because I sensed his frustration and didn’t want to risk anything happening to the food.
We stayed a little longer for drinks and dessert—a chocolate cake with ice cream, which was also really good. One area that could use improvement is the women’s restroom; it wasn’t as well-maintained as the rest of the restaurant, and having an attendant would help keep it clean throughout the night.
A manager came to check on us, and I hesitated at first but ultimately shared our concerns about the service, particularly the to-go box situation. He was shocked and apologized, which I appreciated. However, upon leaving, the waiter confronted us aggressively, upset that we mentioned it to his manager, saying we got him in trouble. At that point, I was completely over it.
Overall, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was great, but the service experience was disappointing. I’d return, but I’d definitely request a...
Read moreLa Ferneteria Miami located in the heart of the Wynwood neighborhood in Miami, Florida provided a lively atmosphere for a special occasion celebration! The party was greeted my our server Raul who provided excellent recommendations and customer service!
To start off, we all ordered a variety of cocktail such as the Top Fig Tree (similar to a Moscow mule) & Capri Island (contained Spicy Agave)! Then we paired our cocktails with a dozen of fresh oysters, Siberian caviar, & Polipo Brasato di Capri which was a grilled octopus with potatoes and aioli!
For entrees, our party ordered Garganelli alla Vodka, Pappardelle al Funghi, Fettuccine al Tartufo Nero, Ten Layers Lasagna, & Ternerita Braseada with a side of Caesar salad. Wow, all the entrees were super delicious! With the ten layer lasagna & the Pappardelle al Funghi being a party favorite! Lastly, for dessert we decided to try the Tiramisu La Ferne where the espresso coffee used was very powerful!
Overall, @laferneteriabar (IG) was a great establishment on the 9th floor rooftop where you can feel the Miami breeze and enjoy a night out with family or friends. Thank you to Raul for being an excellent server and being so attentive to our party!
Side note - when offered water, we were told “regular or water with gas.” We chose regular thinking “still tap water,” but it was instead bottled still water for $10 each / bottle. Next time, I think guests would appreciate the clarification if no tap water is available, since when you have a big party $10/bottle of water can add up. Not that one minds paying for it, but having the options clearly stated would have all guests on the same page.
P.S. Street parking difficult in the area, hence it is a little difficult to access the restaurant. There is Valet parking near the establishment for $20, but you still have to walk a little to the...
Read moreBeautiful spot, but my experience did not match that. First time I’ve been here was with my fiancé and i had a good time, a girl bartender took care of us and she made our experience amazing, i think her name was Jacky. My second time here was a whole completely different experience. It was kind of slow and the bartender (a guy with black glasses with a skull in the middle) seemed to be extremely desperate and made me and my group so uncomfortable. He kept pushing for us to have food after we told him like 3 times that we were only there for drinks. Then we asked for the check and his immediate response was “why, where you guys gonna go?” And so we had to ask him for it a second time because he was trying to keep us there. But what really made us uncomfortable is that me and my mom in law were gonna split the tab and he gave her her card back and stated that i should pay for the whole tab. I had to explain to him (uncomfortably) that that was not my card but my fiancé’s, after which he stated “ok then the fiancé should pay for the whole bill” and was gonna charge his card for the whole bill when that’s not what we wanted. I was in the industry for 9 years as a bartender and I have never dictated who’s gonna pay for the guest’s tab. that last situation specifically made me and my group soooo uncomfortable and left a bad taste in the mouth of the people that were with me, after me suggesting the spot to them in the first place. Another thing, this is my second time here and the 2 times ive been here the chef was behind the bar making himself a drink or talking to the bartenders, in my opinion that’s super unprofessional, but that was the least of my worries as a guest. I dont know if its a recurring thing or if i just happened to witness that both times...
