Mi Tradicion Gahanna — Restaurant in Mifflin Township

I ordered 2 quesadillas for kids (in which I needed them PLAIN.) I didn’t know it was easy to screw up plain chicken quesadillas until today. I’m laughing. First of all, they were not plain. They were filled with random bits and pieces of onion and peppers throughout. That means they rushed, or the work station was dirty. The quesadillas were only cut on top, meaning they didn’t cut them all the way through. So that also means they rushed. That really sucked trying to get them out of the foil pan they came in, as I was expecting the bottom to be cut too. And since these were plain, they pretty much fell apart. I had to put both quesadillas back together on plates and reassemble myself. The worst part is that the tortillas were not even toasted or anything…. Again, they rushed. They were basically almost raw and super soggy. I mean the tortillas were wet. I’m not talking about the little bit of wetness you get from a delivery and then sitting in the box. No, these were pretty gross. The chicken wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a good quality. I kind of expected it to be grilled chicken, not shredded. But that’s okay. Unfortunately these are some of the worst quesadillas I’ve ever received from a Mexican restaurant and I didn’t really think you could mess up that bad with them being plain, but that sure changed my mind today. Kids didn’t want to eat them. I don’t blame them. I had to get creative and heat them in the oven to get them crisp. No one wants a wet, soggy, barely cooked tortilla for a quesadilla. Ugh. The only thing that saved this order was the fried ice cream and churros. But you can never go wrong...

After reading an online review stating that the tortilla chips' basket was never empty we decided to give it a try! The owners Alex and Kelly are so attentive. This is an authentic family owned restaurant where some of he brothers are the cooks and Alex and his wife run the dining area. The restaurant was packed and we were seated in the back in a room that is used for private parties. They also have outdoor seating. As the review had stated the chips and salsa kept on coming! We ordered a side of guacamole for the chips. I ate 'El Mocajete' one of their specialty dishes and Alex's favorite. It has strips of grilled steak, chorizo, shrimp, caramelized onions and mushrooms and poblano peppers topped with an avocado wedge and cheese. It came with a side of rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. My son ordered the chicken fajitas - stir fried strips of chicken, onions and green peppers it also came with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato and guacamole. The single portion is enough for two people. My husband ordered the 'fajitas quesadilla' topped with queso sauce. Although we were more than satisfied we ordered the 'fried ice cream' dessert! - a fried tortilla with ice cream inside topped with honey and chocolate sauce.
