A friend of mine suggested we try this new place. We ordered their tomato and egg noodles and braised beef noodles. The tomato egg dish was not very good. The tomato sauce tasted like it was canned sauce. The noodles were very firm almost as if they were undercooked. Portion size was average. The braised beef noodle dish was better. The beef was tender but again the noodles were very firm. Neither dish were very tasty at all. In fact, we left enough of each dish that would have normally be in a to go box. When asked by the server if we wanted a to go box, we said no.
The server was friendly but if you look Chinese will immediately speak to you in Mandarin. I spoke English to the server who only spoke Mandarin to me. A different server had to take care of us because of the language barrier.
The restaurant is very clean and there is free parking in front. It is casual family dining fare. The restaurant can accommodate small groups. Overall, service and atmosphere is fine, we were just not impressed with the taste of the food. Unfortunately we will not be...
Read moreLet me break down a few standout dishes where OK Noodle shines:
Youpo Mian (Oil-Splashed Noodles 油潑麵): This is a simple dish — but when done right, it's transcendent. OK Noodle nails it with a richer, deeper, and more fragrant chili oil. The sauce quantity is perfect, clinging to every strand of noodle. At Hand Pulled Noodle, it feels watered down by comparison.
Saozi Tangmian (Sour & Spicy Soup Noodles 臊子湯麵): This is my personal go-to. The balance between spice and tanginess at OK Noodle is spot-on — never overpowering, just bold and clean. Plus, the noodles are perfectly flat and hand-pulled to soak up that broth (which has zero MSG, by the way). I can even ask for no potato — yes, they actually customize!
Tomato Beef Mixed Noodles (番茄牛肉拌麵): My daughter’s favorite. The tomato sauce at OK Noodle is much more generous and hearty than at Hand Pulled Noodle. It tastes like it’s been slow-simmered to perfection. The beef is more tender, and we always ask for flat or thin noodles — which they happily do.
Northwestern Lamb Belt Noodles (西北特色羊肉扯麵): This one is high on my personal list. The wok-fried flavor at OK Noodle is unmistakable — that deep, savory stir-fry aroma hits you before you even take a bite. The lamb is cooked to tender perfection, and the sauce is rich, infused, and abundant — unlike the version at Hand Pulled Noodle, which lacks both flavor depth and portion. Ask for flat noodles to catch all that glorious sauce.
Bottom line: OK Noodle elevates these classic dishes with better seasoning, more sauce, more love in the wok, and more noodle customization. If you’re a true 拉面 lover like me, you’ll taste the difference.
That said, I truly hope Hand Pulled Noodle will take inspiration from OK Noodle’s approach — the foundation is there, and with richer sauces, deeper wok flavor, and greater flexibility, they could absolutely rise to the same level. The love of 拉面 is strong in both — but OK Noodle shows what happens when every element is dialed in just right.
Read moreMy husband and I (two Asians) came here for Saturday lunch. It was busy, and there’s no waitlist system — just a waiting area. After about 15 minutes, it was only us and a white couple left. We were sitting closer to the entrance, but when the male owner came out to seat the next guests, he walked right past us and went straight to the white couple. Thankfully, they pointed out that we arrived first, and only then did he seat us. No explanation, no “light” apology.
During the wait, no one offered water or napkins, and after our food arrived, we asked for small bowls but got ignored for another 10 minutes. The noodles were fine but nothing super stand out compared to other Northern Chinese restaurants in Milpitas.
The female owner was nice, but the male owner’s attitude really left a bad impression. A simple sign-up sheet or waitlist would make the seating process much fairer. Unfortunately, we won’t be...
