Went for the dinner couple days ago around 8:45pm and oddly there were only few tables occupied (Friday night). The greeting from the server was "looking at us, then asking someone what time is it, then telling us to hurry". So, I asked if they were closing at 9? Answer was 10pm!! After we sat down, she didnt even give us the full menu book but instead only the simple special menu. At 9:15, all the staff (servers & kitchen) were having their own dinner. And surprisingly, all the kitchen staff were leaving at 930, even the server was jokingly saying to them we are closing at 10. Basically, all the staff were having their own party during our time in there. Also, I realized they even turned off the AC because since i was sitting directly under one of the LED light and I couldnt stop sweating. I had to get out for some fresh air way before I was able to finish my dinner. All these were the result from the lack of discipline because I didnt see the owner or even a manager there. I bet it wont last more than 6 months with this kind of service especially with all the competitions around it. One thing for sure was we will not go...
Read moreOcean Pearl offers classic dishes and a great variety. I’ve been here for a few birthday dinners and enjoyed the extensive options, especially their fried rice and soups.
Food: The flavors are hit or miss. Some dishes, like the “Salt and Pepper Squid,” are seasoned perfectly, but others lack flavor. For example, the “Crab Meat and Fish Maw Soup” didn't taste salted. Fortunately, there are salt and pepper shakers on the side.
Service: The service is decent, though not very attentive. The staff comes by to refill tea but rarely checks in to see if everything is okay.
Atmosphere: The ambiance is warm and lively, with bright lighting in the evenings and decorations that gives it a modern Chinese diner vibe. It’s busy enough to feel energetic without being too noisy (around 7:00 PM on a weekend). The seating options range from booths and family-style round tables to smaller, more private tables.
Overall, it’s a nice spot to visit casually with family. The atmosphere is welcoming, but I’d be picky with the dishes since the...
Read moreWalking out the restaurant then suddenly a staff literally RUNS out and stops you to ask in a nasty tone why you only gave pre tax 12% tip for lunch.
"was our service bad?" excuse me? "you think this is ok for tip?" what??? ya seeing how you ran out of the restaurant to hail your customer down demanding more tip, YES YOUR SERVICE IS HORRIBLE IT DIDN'T even deserve tip.
I dined at this restaurant before, food is mediocre not memorable but after hearing what my friend experience today, no thank you. America's tipping culture is just ridiculous. Compare it to actual service you get in asia, there are some staff here that just don't deserve anything.
Dine here if you normally give after tax 18-20% tip because apparently that's what they expect from their customers.
Edit: Friend's credit card charge showed up and they gave 12% tip before tax however the restaurant charged 15% after tax. If you dine here, take a photo of your receipt before they take it so you have proof on how much you...
