Considering this is the only venue open for dine in at the Iron Horse Hotel, I am reviewing this based solely on the experience here, and not the previous experiences at their other venues, including Ash Milwaukee, and the venue usually used to house the Mother's Day Brunch special. The layout here is absolutely terrible. There are couches scattered about with tables that are not at eating height. The standard tables they do have are either dirty, or designed for a party less than 3. Apparently it's cool for customers to just smoke cigars in this venue without having a closed off area. What a terrible choice for families bringing children here. When it comes to service, I had initially thought the lack of service was due to a lack of personnel, but that simply is not the case. There were 4 servers at the bar for 4 customers, and for a venue of 15-20 tables, there were at at least 4 servers that I could count running the tables and 1 hostess. It took 10 minutes after seated to get any water, and it took another 5 minutes after that for a server to take our orders. The wait for the food was not a problem, as the food itself was amazing. Whatever you're paying the kitchen staff, it's not enough. Give them a raise. The food was the saving grace for this review. Otherwise, this would have been a 1 star review. Not once were we asked how our food was and it took half an hour after we finished the food for someone to come by and give us the check. Honestly, I took my father here for Father's Day to experience the brunch since I had such a good experience previously with the Mother's Day brunch here. Suffice to say, I was embarrassed having put my dad through this experience. Either your wait staff need trained on not standing around just talking with each other, or lower your bar staff and increase your wait staff. 4 bartenders are not needed for...
Read moreI randomly stopped for lunch at The Yard a few weeks ago, an outdoor spot tucked right inside (&outside) The Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee. I ordered the turkey BLT and loved that it came on a buttery, flaky croissantâsuch a great touch that took the sandwich to the next level.
That said, I tried the chicken katsu sandwich and it was seriously one of the best sandwiches Iâve ever hadâperfectly cooked chicken, the flavors were on point, and the mayo? Everything. I came across a ânew menuâ on Google & was a little bummed to see itâs no longer on the updated menu. I really hope they bring it back or I looked at an âoldâ or outdated new menu đ đ
The ambiance was greatâI sat in the front near the hotel, but the outdoor lounge area looked super cozy and inviting. Iâd love to come back at night, when the string lights and fire towers are lit up I feel like the area would be even cozier and cuter đ
The service was okay; Iâm not sure if itâs because we were sitting outside but it felt like we didnât get much service at all.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food and the vibe, and Iâll definitely be...
Read moreBurger was amazing but....i feel when you say you are splitting the meal it wouldn't take much for them to bring separated or at least a second plate. That brings me to the service. Not great. No silverware was brought. Had to ask for some. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. Manager actually got some for us. Waitress was not in gaging at all. Just there doing her time. Had to ask for another drink. Asked for more ranch for dipping.....took forever. Said she had to make a ticket for it. Yes we got charged for more ranch. For a higher end restaurant in that price point i would expect better. Got better service at a fast...
