Banderas — Restaurant in Milwaukee

I have stopped in here twice as a local. The first time was the opening day and I got a frozen drink and a margarita. Not a fan of either, but as someone who loves conejito’s margaritas I understand it’s tough to compare. The second time was a Thursday night and a building event so slightly busy but not out of the usual. After 45 minutes of waiting for a Busch light at the bar, (again not that busy, seats open at the bar) one of the four workers behind the bar “apologized” saying they have short staff and it takes him ten minutes per drink to make. My friend laughed at the ten minutes per drinks line and then the bartender said my friend is clearly wasted and he would never serve him (hard thing to be when you can’t get a drink). At the end of the day, I would love for this place to be awesome, due to the proximity to me and my friends and my love for Mexican food and margs, but the service has been horrible with ridiculous wait times and now the bartender insulting my friend is out of line. I can’t attest to the food as I haven’t tried it, but conejitos is gonna remain my staple from here on out...

Banderas is such a great new spot. My wife and I started with the totopos (house-made tortilla chips and salsa) and they were incredible, perfectly crispy and the salsa was full of flavor.

We shared the birria pizza and the Brazilian steak sandwich, and both were fantastic. Really fresh, bold flavors all around.

The margaritas were excellent, and I love that they put real effort into their mocktails. My wife tried the pickle limonada and spicy watermelon mocktails, and she couldn’t pick a favorite because they were both so refreshing.

The BEST new latin american bar/restaurant in Walkers point. Amazing craft cocktails (also FRESH!!! No store bought juices, all fresh pressed. You don’t find that in many places (if any) in Milwaukee). I haven’t tried one bad drink and I’ve tried all but a few, my favorite changes weekly!! THE BIRRIA PIZZA IS TO DIE FOR!!!
