Di Noko's when it was in South Minneapolis was the best pizza place in town. Not to mention the best Chicago style pizza not only here, but better than most in Chicago. When ordering there was always a coupon applied whether you had one or not, which was a super nice touch. I enjoyed ordering from them and everyone there was super nice and friendly, including the delivery guy. We tried all of their crusts and combos and without fail it was the best pizza in town. However, they moved downtown, so no more delivery and much higher prices. I assume due to higher rent downtown?? However, for a good pizza from time to time I'm willing to visit and eat in or pickup for take out and spend a bit extra. Unfortunately, I've noticed a slow slide to now what I"d call OK pizza and not worth it anymore. Each time I've visited the staff have been nice, but the quality and customer service has dropped. My wife and I had our final pizza there tonight making one request on their specialty pizza, which did not come as requested. The waitress stopped by and said after we received it that they unfortunately don't make exceptions on their specialty pizzas. It would have been good to know at the time we ordered. Then someone that looked like a front of house manager stopped by and we mentioned it to him and he said "oh, no we could have met your request." So, which is it? There was no effort to fix it, but ultimately it didn't matter anyway the quality just wasn't there anymore. The cheese was not like it use to be, the crust not as good and the sauce was similar, but a little off. I'd say it was OK or passable, but not for the prices they are charging and there are just so many other good options for pizza in this town. I like to support small and independent restaurants especially when they have a good product and service, but that is no longer the case here. So, I can't in good conscience recommend this place to others anymore. Even though I'll spend be spending my pizza money elsewhere I do root for them to get back to what they had. If you do decide to go there after reading this review I hope your pizza and experience are better. I really miss the old Di Noko's and the old...
Read moreWe had reservations before a concert. We left ourselves 2 hours knowing it would be busy. I called in the am to confirm my reservation, when we arrived they did not have our reservation. After sharing the details of the conversation they found us a table. Service was so slow that we were only able to get 2 rounds. 1st took ~30minutes and after waiting 40± minutes for the 2nd and seeing them finally sitting at the bar and the waitress ignore them...I went to the bar and served then to our table my self. Between receiving our 1st and ordering our 2nd and food the manager came approached our table (I thought to check on us) and asked if we'd be ordering anything else because he had a reservation coming and needed our table. I explained that we had already ordered and were waiting for food and drinks. As the time we needed to leave aproached I was able to find the waitress, I asked her if she could check on our food and asked her to bring the bill with food because we were now in a hurry ( 2 hours after arriving). She brought the bill and still no food. We were surprised to see a 20% gratuity for a party of 6 and considering we served ourselves. After not seeing our waitress for some time I asked the hostess if she could check on our food, she was kind and actually kept going back to check on things. Our food came out item by item...cold fries, under cooked flatbread, soggy sliders...burger, sandwich and Cuban were good. I was able to finally find a manager who I shared all of this with, he bought us a round and said he'd remove the sliders from bill but didn't. I expected it to be busy but this was probably all of our worst dinning experiences ever. Total time...
Read moreStopped by before a concert & This place is weird. Says itâs latin on google but saw maybe one Latin dish. There is a bar on one side, the other side is some booths along the outside of the dining room and then folding chairs and tables on the inside with tablecloths. Seemed like it wanted to be fancy but was failing. Had fancy chandeliers and prices but also had a nightclub set-up and laser lights going off during daylight and dinner time. Had an host stand but no one was at it so after waiting 5 min, we sat ourselves. There was a ââMexican cuisineâ menu on the table when we got there. I asked if this was the menu and our server said no and brought a totally different one. Food is all over the place from Chicago dogs to fish and chips to quesadillas. Took 15min to get our drinks only to find out they were out. Kept it simple and ordered beef nachos. They took 35min, were cold, the beef was pot roast type beef, the cheese was only on the bottom chips and not melted, only came with cheese/lettuce/meat, and came with ketchup. How odd. I asked for salsa and the server came back with sour cream and guac. They were terrible but we needed something in our stomach before the concert, and we didnât have time to wait for different nachos. Server never asked how the food was, we asked for our bill right away and had to re-ask for it. I should add that the place was not busy at all, only on...
