This was our very favorite Indian restaurant, and one of our favorite restaurants in general. My partner and I have been going here and getting takeout for years, and the food is awesome. Unfortunately they are now under new ownership. Since the new ownership, we have been here three times and every time the service gets worse and worse. The last two times, the food was still very good, but they were lacking employees and the food took a long time. We thought we'd give it one more chance tonight to see if service was any better or if they had hired any new employees since the new ownership back in May. To our disappointment, they had not. There were only three tables in the restaurant when we were there, including myself and my partner. After being seated, our order was taken about five minutes later. We ordered two entrees and an order of peshawari naan for an appetizer. The naan came out fairly quick. It was very hot and crispy on the bottom and fluffy on top, but we soon realized it was not the peshawari naan, or maybe it was, but they had changed the ingredients or had forgot to add the usually amazing tasting filling, so it was bland and plain. But a server never came by to check up on it, so we ate it anyway and waited for our entree. After an hour of waiting for our food and already watching one table storm out and leave, we decided we couldn't wait any longer and decided to leave ourselves. No one had come by our table to apologize for the wait or tell us that food was on its way. We had watched about 8 takeout orders leave, but there were only 4 other tables in the restaurant at this time (5 total including us). And it definitely seemed as though takeout orders were their priority. We spoke to the new owner and explained politely the circumstances and that we couldn't wait any longer so we were leaving. I have worked in many restaurants, so I wasn't rude or upset towards her, I just wanted her to know why and explain the situation. The owner just said "ok, I understand" and turned away and walked away to finish whatever she was doing. No apology, or "your food is almost out", or anything. Just "ok, sounds good". It is such a shame that the new owner can't find more staff, or refuses to hire more staff, or can't even apologize for the situation. The food for the most part has been consistent and still very good since the change of ownership, but they have raised their prices on just about every item and their lack of cooks, servers, and employees really is disappointing. My whole family loved this place and we have introduced so many people to here because the food is definitely among the best Indian food in the state. But unfortunately the new owner will lose long-time, regular customers such as ourselves, and many more if they can't figure out how to turn their service around, or least learn how to apologize and make things right for...
Read moreFood was great, but it would have been nice if alcohol was served again and if they somehow made the buffet available again. The atmosphere was clean and earily dead. There was low lighting because there were no lights on, just waning sunlight. More lighting would have been nice and if there was music, because there was no music playing. Music played over in India would have been cool. Our waitress was nice and knew the menu well. The staff, including our waitress, stayed back in the kitchen mostly. So, it was spooky quiet except for me and my friend. We had to walk back to the kitchen and knock on the door to get our waitress' attention in order to order more food off of the menu. Then she was attentive again. We still gave her a nice tip. There was not another customer for the whole time we were there. Just pick up for delivery, I believe, at the front desk. We were there from 5:15pm (they open at 5pm) until we left at 7/7:30pm on a Friday night (5/27/22). My friend has been to a lot of Indian restaurants back in California and she shared that one of the best parts, that she loved about those restaurants, was that the Naun bread was free, which would probably bring in more customers. I really hope this restaurant makes it because the food was honestly really good! Loved the plum sauce with the Vegetable Samosa (potato and peas stuffed triangle pastry), the Chicken Curry (it had a more yellowish/orange medium spiced curry sauce in my opinion), and the garlic Naun bread! One last thing, if they had filtered water that would have been MUCH better than the tap water they served us. Wayzata is known for not having the cleanest water...
Read moreLiterally picked this restaurant based on reviews, It's not always the wisest thing to do since everyone has their own opinion. I have reviewed and eaten at many, many Indian style restaurants so this review is done with great detail concerning, presentation, cleanliness, service and most importantly quality and taste of the food. I ordered the mushroom chicken mild spice and chicken kashmir with garlic bread. My friend ordered 2 completely different dishes. Staff was great, didn't get the owners name but husband and wife pretty much do everything!! And let me say they do it very well!!! Food didn't take long to arrive and it was hot, fresh and the aroma was amazing!!! My first bite of mushroom chicken had literally the most flavor of any sauce I've ever tasted.. The mushrooms where even better quality than normal, and the chicken was tender and so tasty!! I couldn't even get to my 2nd dish for portions where very generous!! I will end by saying that overall this was my very best experience for India style food and we will most certainly be back to try everything!! Thank you to the owners for treating us so kindly 😊 See you again!! Jerry
