There's something truly captivating about Mackenzies Pub in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Combining the old-world allure of a traditional pub with the modern sensibilities of an upscale bar, it offers an unparalleled blend of warmth, sophistication, and local flavor.

Upon entering, I was struck by the Pub's inviting ambiance. The beautiful wooden accents, rustic brick walls, and vintage decor create a sense of comfort and familiarity that's hard to find in the city's bustling downtown. Despite its chic atmosphere, Mackenzies never loses its genuine pub charm, which is one of its standout qualities.

What really sets Mackenzies Pub apart is its extensive selection of beverages. Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast, a whiskey connoisseur, or just a fan of a well-poured pint, there's something for everyone. The rotating taps feature local breweries and international favorites, showcasing an impressive diversity of styles and flavors. I especially enjoyed their specialty Irish Coffee, a delightful blend of rich coffee and smooth whiskey that was the perfect cap to my evening.

The food at Mackenzies is equally noteworthy. From hearty pub classics to inventive new dishes, each item on the menu is thoughtfully prepared and delicious. I particularly savored the shepherd's pie - a comfort food classic done to perfection with a modern twist.

The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, striking the right balance between professional and personable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations that truly elevated my experience.

However, the reason I'm giving Mackenzies Pub a 4.5 instead of a full five stars is due to the noise level during peak hours. While the lively atmosphere adds to the pub’s charm, it can occasionally verge on being a bit too bustling, which may detract from the...

We stopped in for some pub grub prior to a concert. The atmosphere is fun and lively, with upbeat music, pleasant decor featuring autographed posters of traveling Broadway shows and notable music acts, and even a few pinball machines. There’s a shaded patio in the back that could be great in the summer. It seems to have a bit of a Scottish identity crisis both in decor and on the menu, but that may be picking nits.

Service was adequate but uneven — not particularly friendly and we had to pour our own water (and fetch refills). Drink offerings are generous with about 10 local brews and 10 imports on tap. The menu is good (American) bar food. My party ordered the Cuban sandwich (good), BBQ burger (very good), and Habanero street tacos (very good). We also ordered Jamaican jerk wings which were remarkable — so smoky and sweet that no one at the table used any dipping sauces. I may come back for wings alone. Everything is fairly priced between $10-$20.

I found out the hard way that the men’s room stall doesn’t latch closed. Let’s just say that it was awkward for more than one person. Fix that, Mackenzie.

Bathroom embarrassment notwithstanding, I’ll likely be back. It’s an upbeat spot with...

We were in from out of town this weekend, and of the 3 days we were in Minneapolis, you’d better believe all 3 of them we hoofed it from our hotel to Mackenzie. Usually we’re not one for overly busy bars, but watching this staff work was like art in motion. From the two gentlemen behind the bar (TOTAL rockstars) to the floor staff (shout out to the gal in the backwards hat with the adorable tights—you CRUSH it out there, plus you just look like a total badass) Mackenzie Pub has an unmatchable vibe. We only had the pretzel and the Scotch Eggs (it was destiny, because we got the last order our first night there) and both were fast and very tasty. I would happily spend my last moments on earth drowning in that queso. The kitchen staff is extremely efficient, and despite the insanity, everyone worked in harmony to keep ticket times down, clean in their limited down time and seemingly maintain a very positive attitude.

TLDR; this place is the real deal. From the charming interior to the staff’s ease of being able to handle enormous amounts of volume and still be as cool as the other side of the pillow, if there were more stars, they’d...

Walking around the city, we found this gem! Great vibe Scottish pub with a full menu that made it hard to choose what to have for lunch. Server was working the tables and the patio out back but was killing it! Coleslaw was honestly incredible and the chips were addicting. It didn’t seem like you could go wrong with the menu, but the Mack Burger is highly recommended, by me.

Incredible pub with amazing service and delicious food! I am a chicken wings lover and these smoked wings did not disappoint. I chose the Kentucky BBQ sauce and blue cheese which was a good combo. I decided to try something new and ordered the scotch eggs and they exceeded my expectations! I’ll be back even if it’s just for more eggs!
