I've gone at least 6 times this year and I love the atmosphere and how intimate the venue is. You really feel like you're in your own world with the musician. I just really wish the food was better. The portions are always really small for what you eat and the food is just eh. I would recommend getting food before and just getting drinks there. Of the food I've had these are my reviews:

Monkey Bread: small but sweet, probably my favorite of all of the options. Definitely can't share it. Pine Honey Pizza: SUPER small (I want to say 8 inches long) shaped like a flatbread but it is only 6 pieces and it's just cheese and mushrooms on it. Really disappointing Chicken Sandwich: sauce is really good but is actually the size of a slider and you only get one of it. Gnudi: probably the biggest of the meals I've had there. There are 3 little balls and it's sitting in a sauce. It's really good and you could share this one. Just really wish it was bigger for what you're paying for Milk Chocolate Pot: no comments, just super rich and tasty

Get the espresso martini,...

A jazz bar true to its own proclamations of wonderful sound and warm service, Berlin was absolutely packed when I dropped in for opening night. I arrived close to 7:00 and saw a huge line ahead, but thankfully I was able to sit with friends who were slim enough to accommodate an extra person. The seating areas are intimate and thoughtfully designed and laid out. The drinks were wonderful - I had a sparkling white and Last Word, and the performance by the Riffin’ Trio was superb. I’ll be back to taste other items on the menu and had the shrimp skewers + winter salad. The batter on the shrimp should probably be panko and the winter salad was a winner for me.

I’m excited to see the roster of musicians that come through in the next few months. If all things continue to operate as they have, this just may be THE place to hangout from now on. I would gladly head over after work (would they ever have a happy hour menu?) to bask in a lively atmosphere with drinks, food, and...

I want to say that I like this place so badly!! :( I continue to stop in once in a while, because I love the venue and appreciate the concept of an intimate, dark lit, romantic setting where you can enjoy live music. There is only 1 issue that deters me from going here. The music system is STUPID LOUD!!!! It's ridiculous. I am not sensitive to volume. I'm a young chick who goes to loud concerts all the time. I grew up around live music being that my dad has had his own band since the 60's. I frequent many music bars/venues in Minneapolis and this is literally the only place that has this issue!! This venue is way too small to be blasting the volume at this level. Certain artists can maybe get away with this if its a one man show playing acoustic guitar....but for 90% of the music sets I have seen at Berlin, (with drums and various instruments,) it has been painfully loud for no reason. I unfortunately have to get up and...

This was the third time I had been to Berlin. One recommendation is to go to tickted shows instead of the free shows, unless it’s piano. The first time I went, it was improvised with a saxophone and honestly harsh on the ears. This time I went to a jazz trio with piano, soprano (clarinet?), and saxophone. They played some songs from their album and some others in similar genre. The tickets were $30 each. I mark the food as 4 stars. The ham sandwich was unevenly heated. The affogato was excellent. I mark the service as 3 stars. I was seated at the counter and my server never took a drink order. Finally, the general manager (thank you !) took my order and I was served an iced Americano and the sandwich and ice cream. I do not drink alcohol. It would have been more fun if a friend joined me, but nobody said yes to jazz. Very disappointing.
