The only thing that saved our experience at Kieran's was my wife's Guinness, which was poured perfectly. We stopped by because we were early for a Timberwolves game on a Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar since we didn't need food and didn't want to take up a table. The bartender, Kristina S., greeted us and asked if we had any questions, my wife asked what was in one of the drink specials they had on the board, and the bartender then walked away without answering. When she returned, my wife repeated the question and this time she answered. My wife ordered a Guinness and I ordered a Manhattan chilled. The look this bartender gave me could have made a child cry. She then asked what liquor I wanted, I answered bourbon, she replied "obviously". I gave her my bourbon preference and she walked away without saying anything once again. My wife's Guinness arrived perfectly poured, and My chilled Manhattan arrived full of ice and with some kind of unmixed syrup. The drinks were overpriced for the quality, at least l assume, since I was never given an itemized receipt.

The most convenient place to eat at while waiting for a show/game at Target Center. They have a super nice patio but it definitely fills up. Inside, it's huuuge and nicely decorated. We came on a Friday night and there was live music which was nice. They atmosphere here is quite festive. They have a pretty small menu, which is good, I suppose, but there's not a lot of choices. Just pub fare and American burgers and sandwiches. I ordered fish and chips which was okay. I'm glad they have malt vinegar (Is it only Anchor that refuses to carry malt vinegar?🤔). The wings were a little salty. This is an Irish pub but I don't like Irish whiskey so I didn't look at that. I did look at their scotch prices and it's laughably expensive lol $30 for 2oz of Macallan 12 is bonkers. Just down the road at Cowboy Jacks they go for $14. It's also far cheaper at their sister restaurant, The Local on Nicollet. But maybe they're not trying to sell scotch.

Upon entering the pub we were told to "sit anywhere we liked" Well it was 50 F in the front room. Cold. Frigid. So we walked to the back room that was warm and inviting. There were a half dozen employees sitting around the fire place laughing and enjoying the warmth. They IMMEDIATELY snapped at us. "This room is closed you can't be in here" Strange as the door was open and tables were waiting? So we asked if we could sit in the other adjacent room. "No" So much for "Sit anywhere you like" We asked if they could turn the heat up in the front room They laughed. My money apparently does not interest this buisness...oh well had a nice meal across the street at Gluikes.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner before going to a concert at First Avenue. I had Fish & Chips and she had Greens & Grain with Salmon. The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the rest wasn't. Staff were generally rushed and rude - the guy that brought out our food seemed genuinely surprised that we also wanted cutlery, and when we mentioned we were still waiting for drinks, pretty much said that wasn't his job. My wife ordered a ginger-cherry mocktail, and was given a can of ginger beer instead. When we asked about it, the server said about the drink being flavored. No, they got the order wrong. Of course, by this point, we couldn't really follow up. While we were eating, a band started playing. Very, very, loudly. We were not near the stage but we had no chance of conversation. The band there was louder than the one we saw later at First Avenue. And then the check comes, and there is a 5% service charge (not a tip!). Apparently, the service charge is in the fine print on the menu, but that's exactly the sort of dickery that makes me not want to back to a restaurant. Oh, and the first beer I tried to order, they were out of. And the second beer I tried to order, they were out of. Excellent food, I don't plan to go back anytime soon. Update: I appreciate the General Manager reaching out and offering to remedy the situation. The correct remedy is to take the 5% service charge off your menu (and yes, raise your prices and pay your servers appropriately). I won't be back as long as that service charge...

Food was pretty good but the service was a little weak. Our server seemed to keep forgetting that we were there. Forgot the drinks, then the menus, then taking our order. Both of my beers were underpoured by at least a half inch. And it wasn't busy at all. Then another person brought the food and when he was handing me the wrong plate, I politely corrected him and he gave me a look like I just kicked his dog. The food itself was pretty good. My reuben was well stacked with house cooked corned beef and it was well trimmed so there wasn't a bunch of fat in it. My nephew had the cod fish and chips and said it was excellent. Interestingly, he also ordered a desert and when asked about the deserts, the server rattled off a few and he picked one. Then I heard another server rattle off the desert list and it was a completely different list than the one we were given. A part of me didn't want to go today because I had been there on one other occasion a couple of years ago when while sitting at the bar, I had a couple of pints and the bartender just stopped serving me. He ignored several times when I asked for another beer and finally I just left. So, it's highly unlikely I'll be back anytime soon. There are plenty of places in town to get good beer, fish and chips, and reuben sandwiches so there's no need to put up with...

Felt like a restaurant that couldn’t decide what kind of place it wants to be. Feels like a party place where the staff doesn’t really want to be there… but they offer promotions and a brunch menu with fare similar to what you might find in NE?

Showed up post brunch rush on the weekend and the host was no where to be found. We looked around couldn’t find anyone. Walked out to the patio and three different servers passed us and didn’t interact with us or offer assistance. Finally got someone from the bar to seat us - still no server for 5 min. Had to ask a second time to get a server. The server took our orders and left. Did not bring utensils or water.

When our food came we got a bit more service and attention but overall not a place I’d choose to spend $20 plus for brunch. If it were rush or short staffed I’d excuse the experience because we’ve all been there trying to juggle 80 things at work. But there were maybe 8 tables booked when we came in. Food was great but def a place I’d only choose for cheaper meals and party bar experience with service like this.

The poutine fries were better than I was expecting. A bit salty, but that’s part of the dish. The added corned beef was a nice touch. The sunrise...
