Food quality varies but service was excellent.
We got in around 9pm after a show at the Guthrie, Maxwell's was one of only a few places still open at the time. We ran into a sizable crowd from the Vikings noonday disaster who were drinking away their woes. Despite this our server Ally spotted us immediately, got us seated, explained taps, and got drinks ordered. All while being the only server working the tables of a packed dining room and dropping off food. The dry rub wings were delicious with a slight crispiness while staying tender. Unfortunately both burgers were so passed well done (we didn't order them well done) that they dimmed what would have otherwise been great burgers, ingredient-wise. The seasoned sour cream was fantastic on the perfectly crisp fries though so that helped a lot.
In all we'd give them another shot on a different day, hopefully the cooks won't be in as much of a rush then. And treat Ally well, she...
Read moreBrett the server ignored us for the duration of our visit. We were sat by a bus boy, Caleb who said that our server would be right with us, but the server Brett never stopped by to take our order. Once a white couple came out he walked out immediately to help them. Mind you we had already been sitting 15 minutes before they arrived. My friend had to go in and ask could someone come help us as we had been waiting about 15 minutes. As a black woman I found his attitude rude and disrespectful once he did come to the table. When he approached our table he said "Your up". I will NEVER support this kind of customer service. Brett not once came back to our table to see if we needed anything. Thanks to Caleb the busser for serving us our food, getting us utensils and napkins. And just for having respect and treating us like PEOPLE!! Brett is the worst, he's clearly not fond of serving anyone...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and good staff. I stopped in with coworkers for lunch.
I ordered the signature" slow roasted beef, but I wish I hadn't. The menu stated that the roast beef was "slow roasted for 8 hours" before serving. That might be true, but "before" could also mean "6 days ago." That's what it tasted like. Unless they meant "boiled on high for 8 hours," that could be. Literally, that's what it tasted like. The roast beef was tough, dry, and completely flavorless. Completely without flavor of any kind. Like... *zero taste whatsoever. I'd be a little more forgiving if this sandwich hadn't occupied the special signature block on the menu... my coworkers food seemed alright, but this sandwich was...
