I love this place. Every Potbelly I've been to has generally had very friendly employees and great service, but this one takes the cake. I go there almost every day for lunch around 1:30 or 2 pm. At this time, the employees are a little bored and I usually get to witness some entertaining (but harmless) shenanigans while we wait for my sandwich to go through.
They usually try to guess what I'm going to order out of my three regular choices, though they often get it wrong because I have a pretty arbitrary system. They are always fun to chat with, and I get disappointed when I am forced to go during the lunch rush because they (understandably) have to move me through quickly.
Sadly, today is my last day working downtown, as I'm changing offices. I went for one last sandwich, and they gave it to me for free for being such a good customer (seriously, I averaged three times/week for the last nine months or so). It's not the first time they've given me arbitrary discounts for "being awesome" (their words, though I agree), but this was the first totally free one.
If I HAD to complain, I would say the I dislike that the manager always insists I get a bag marked "extra meat" (I always get an original + extra meat), even though the entire store can hear my order and I don't lie anyways. But I guess that's her job, and like I said, I'm digging for a negative here.

Read moreManager was appropriately adequate in dealing with inadequate employees who were both rude and inconsiderate by giving a a refund. The first employee had headphones in while taking our order and barked at us and was being rude in general. Then after my husband gave a generous tip our family sat down. All sandwiches were cut and orderly except for mine. It was a grotesque mess. I went up to the counter and politely expressed my displeasure. To which the second employee told me and I quote "I don't care". I told it back to her with a disgusted look on my face in disbelief and asked if that was appropriate considering the tip that was given. She and the other employee insulted me and laughed at my husband. The manager came out told the first employee to go to the back and the other was told to be quiet. The manager handled it most promptly and professionally. I could tell the manager was embarrassed by the whole thing. We thanked her for the professionalism I hope the employees find jobs that suit them better because this was completely unfair to put the manager in that position.
