After leaving Minneapolis 13 years ago one of the things I missed most was the food at Roat Osha. This was my go to place for dine in and take out. Since leaving it’s always been a must stop when I’m back in town. Today was my first time back since last year. Though the neighborhood has gone through a lot of changes one thing I can say is that Roat Osha’s food has NOT. Had to get my go to dish the sriracha fried rice. Came out so hot I had to resist loosing the roof of my mouth and wait for it to cool off. Shout out to chef Oscar because this was 1000% better than I had remembered it. All of the ingredients were fresh and crisp. You can tell they care about using high quality ingredients and don’t cut any corners. And you know the food is awesome when you don’t have to ask for a condiment caddy. Also new since the last time I had been there was their daily Happy Hour. Lots of extremely affordable drink and food options. I decided to start with cream cheese wontons. They said I could mix and match so I choose half/half cranberry and jalapeño. Both were really tasty and loaded full of cream cheese and the jalapeños and cranberries. Owner Lily was kind enough to let me try the pork spring rolls. When I tell you these were delish I mean DELISH. Served with two dipping sauces, both are awesome. And these are also included in their HH menu. I had intentions of taking them to go but ended up eating two at the table and the other two on my 90 minute car drive home. After the first bite I knew they wouldn’t stand a chance making it home as leftovers. I can’t say enough great things about this place. From the staff to the food it is all excellent. I encourage anyone who is in Minneapolis or the Twin Cites area to go check them out. There is plenty of street meter parking as well as a huge ramp behind the restaurant. Keep in mind that the entrance is on the back of the building. Owner Lily is a gem. She has already given my suggestions for my next visit. Im a creature of habit with my go-to’s, but will be trying new things next time I go. Writing this review has my stomach churning craving it all over again. Go and support this family owned place if and when you can, you...
Read moreThankful I booked an evening flight to head back home because I was able to get one last trip to my favorite Minneapolis thai restaurant.
Once again we were taken such stellar care of by owners Lily and Alex.
On this visit we tried one of Lily’s recommendation off of the appetizer section, Grilled Beef Jerky. This dish DID NOT disappoint. You can tell they use high quality ingredients by the way this tasted. Delicious marinate and grilled until perfectly tender. Both dipping sauces included were both so good.
Also had the Fried Spring Rolls with pork which has become my must order dish every time. Their version of a classic is by far my favorite I’ve ever had. It’s a hot every time, and now I have my non addicted to them as well.
For our entrees I got my must have Sriracha Fried Rice (spice level 4-which uses fresh thai chili). Was perfect as always. Cannot go wrong with this as an entree or for the table to share. Portions are insanely large. Thankfully I packed a small cooler bag for my carry-on because all of the leftovers came back home with me. Was the gift that kept on giving feeding me several more meals after I got home.
My mom got the Panang Curry with chicken (spice level 4). Served with white rice. She and I absolutely loved it. Perfect balance of spice balanced by the sweet coconut milk. Another huge portion that she got to take home to continue to enjoy another meal out of.
My mom loved my fried rice dish so much she placed an additional order for herself to go that she could eat for her work meal prep.
Lily graciously sent me home with an extra order of the pork friend spring rolls. Reheated in the air fryer back at home brought them back to life and I wouldn’t be able to tell they didn’t just come fresh out of the fryer.
I can’t speak more highly of this place. Great menu, fast friendly service, high food quality, taste is beyond!! Already thinking about going back when I return to MN again.
Go visit or order take out!! And don’t sleep on their Happy Hour 3pm-6pm. Drinks for $2-$6 and a variety of...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favorite restaurants, unfortunately, I have now had two terrible experiences and will not be returning. The experience was so bad, that this is the first time I have ever written a review on any restaurant. If you are looking for a quality dining experience with great food and service, I urge you to stay away from Roat Osha. The first bad experience I had was about a year ago. I ordered the Won Tong Soup (my go-to item), and it was so greasy that I could see visible grease rings in the soup and around the edges of the bowl. The second terrible experience was on 09/08/2013. My boyfriend and I went there for some much needed comfort soup. He ordered the Pho and I decided to give my go-to soup another chance. This time, the soup was so salty it tasted like ocean water. Apparently a bottle of mislabeled salt was used when it should have been sugar. Giving up on the soup for good, I reordered a curry dish and that was better. My boyfriend's Pho was OK, but unlike other restaurant's Pho, the portion of bean sprouts was tiny, no lime, and he didn't get any Sirracha or Thai Basil. When we asked for the missing items it took over 10 min. for the server to bring them to us. In regards to the service, it was extremely slow and our server was rude and impatient. We were told the lunch rush was massive and the computers had gone down which was why the service was slow. That is understandable but we arrived well after the rush and there were only about 15 people in the place, if that. No manager checked on us to see how we were doing nor was any discount offered for our terrible service and food; PLUS the server had charged me for the soup which was a few dollars more than the curry dish I ordered...
