NAMI MIRAMAR CHARGES YOU EXTRA FOR REMOVING ITEMS FROM ROLLS/DISHES BEFORE THEY EVEN MAKE IT AND THEY DON'T INFORM YOU ABOUT THE EXTRA COST. SO YOU'RE PAYING MORE FOR YOUR FOOD WITH LESS THINGS IN IT AND THEY CONFIRMED IT.
I wasn't going to leave a review because I'm a firm believer that the truth comes out eventually and you truly do reap what you sow, but the more I sat with it, the more I felt the need to share it because it's honestly not right and a very low way of conducting yourself as a business.
The only reason I discovered their scheme was because on Wednesday evening I did my usual take out order, but there was a language barrier between me and the individual who took the order. I ordered a daimyo roll with no white fish, but they were struggling to understand the "no white fish" part even though in the end after going over the order multiple times, they said they understood. When I went to pick it up I informed them that I ordered the roll with no white fish and there was a language barrier, so I just wanted to make sure the roll was indeed done without white fish and when they checked it they said no, we'll do it again. So I sat in the waiting area and was the only one in there and the girl in the front that I always deal with is talking with someone in the back about a ticket and the person tells her to ring it up so that she (referring to me) could pay the difference. Once I heard that I asked them if they were talking about me and the man replied yes. He looked like the manager/owner. I proceeded to shake my head no and said "I'm not going to pay the difference for something that was done wrong on your end. I made it clear what it was I wanted and now you're going to make me pay the difference? I'll just take the original one you were going to give me with the white fish." He looked at me like if I was stupid and said that you always pay when you remove something and looking at your account you've always been charged. So this time I'll give it to you without charging you (he meant the "extra" cause I already paid for the roll), but the next time you order you'll be paying extra for it.
So right in that moment, he disclosed to me that they've been charging me extra to REMOVE items from the rolls before they're even assembled and I was never informed about the extra cost. Never in my life have I had something like this happen. I've always understood paying extra for substitutions, but never to remove something from a dish/roll that truly hasn't even been assembled yet. So ultimately, and I confirmed it with the girl I always deal with at take out, I'm actually paying MORE for the roll with less things in it and they don't even TELL YOU that.
I wrote this to raise awareness to those who buy there because if I was never informed, I can't even imagine what other things they're not informing their customers about. I'm honestly disappointed and kind of disgusted with their method of doing business especially as a loyal customer who spends min 100$ every time I place an order. Suffice it to say I feel cheated and taken for granted by a place that I truly enjoyed and was satisfied frequenting, not just by myself, but with my family. It was a good run, but due to this big breach in trust and unprofessionalism, I will not be returning to Nami.
I hope that this experience is far and few between because it's truly disheartening and just wrong on so many levels. I truly hope this is something that doesn't happen again and that they rethink the way they conduct themselves and their business because at the end of the day not only does it hurt them on a business level, but it truly exposes who they...
Read moreThis place is a gem. It's been around for 18+ years with the same crew who go above and beyond for their patrons. They've changed ownership so the place has changed a bit but with wider selections of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese cuisines so the menu maybe overwhelming for those who are pressed for time/hungry/new.
You have to be patient because they can easily get slammed on both sides in takeout and dining room since it's only one person managing. So if you're on a short break and don't have time it's better to order in advance through their online prepaid service to avoid the hassle. If you come with a large party in the dining room, double check on their availability because it can easily have a full house so you might need to make reservations just to be safe.
The staffs definitely remember all their regulars and keep histories of your orders which is handy when you can't remember yours, your families or special occasion catering and sushi boat platters. I can easily order the usual if im a creature of habit.
My go to foods that I order is their salmon or ikura chirashi/donburi, nami boat for 1 or a sushi deluxe substitute tuna roll for salmon roll and a mango boba ice tea with rainbow jelly (pineapple flavor). My husband is a soup and meat fanatic, he orders beef udon noodle soup with extra beef, scallions, cilantro and hot oil. Mongolian beef with extra beef, less white onions, extra scallions with a side of egg fried rice. He goes back and forth with the Mongolian beef or the beef lo mein. My mother enjoys their shrimp dynamite tostones, scallops dynamite roll, firecracker roll and their lychee boba ice tea with lychee popping bobas.
They use to give out free sauces in their early years but are charging for extra sauces since they make all the sauces in house and it's limited. You can order small cups, large cups, 8 oz or 16 oz of sauces. Special note to all the sauce lovers out there.
If you have special requests always double check the cost because the market...
Read moreBest sushi spot in South Florida. Big statement, I know. There may be other places that offer more exotic or even better sushi including Nami's two other locations but none offer the quality, size of pieces, energetic staff, local vibe and extremely reasonable price that Nami Sushi in Miramar offers.
The place is located in a small, isolated strip mall that has a cosmetic surgery place, a Venezuelan restaurant and a martial arts studio. If you blink you might drive by it.
My wife and I have been coming here for many years and this is the standard that we compare all other sushi restaurants to. Few are better... most are not. We travel all the way from Kendall to eat here.
The fish is always fresh and the pieces are generously large, especially the Sashimi. We always get the Tsunami Boat for 2 that includes your choice of Miso soup or Ginger Salad for each person, 16 pieces of Sashimi, 14 Nigiri sushi, a tuna roll and a California roll 10 pieces each. All for $48. Again, you might think that the sushi has to be tiny but in fact it is larger than most other, more expensive places.
The service here is also fantastic. Usually staffed by a young wait staff that really wants to give top notch service with very enthusiastic energy.
This location also has Chinese and Thai food as well as everything you would expect from a Japanese restaurant including Moshi.
The place is small with a glass waterfall partition in the middle of the dining room. The bathrooms are clean and it never smells of fish. The vibe of the place is of a local neighborhood restaurant. So much so that the owner and staff seem to know everyone. Expect to relax and enjoy great food at...
