We ate here the morning before and really enjoyed the smoothies and the orange juice. After rafting and having the most amazing day, we decided that we were craving the watermelon blast smoothie and wanted to give this place a shot for lunch. When we arrived, we weren’t greeted at all and a server named Joe came over, Dropped water at the table spilling it all over everything including us -didn’t apologize and proceeded to tell us that we needed a minute when I responded with we were ready to order some drinks. Because that’s what you do at restaurants is place your drink order then your food -he barked at me and said NO YOU HAVE TO ORDER FOOD- and walked away we were so confused and a little caught off guard- when he came back over he was so rude and acted like we were Inconveniencing him, we began to place our orders- again starting with drinks - I asked for a Piña colada, where he looked me dead in my face and told me we don’t have that which is when I held up the menu and pointed to it- Then my girlfriend ordered a bloody Mary and he looked at us and rudely said we aren’t a bar… They have an entire cocktail menu which we then we again flipped over the menu and pointed at the big letters that said COCKTAIL MENU, he rolled his eyes and said WHATEVER in the nastiest tone - mind you this man is 50+ year old grown man acting like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum- as a server at a restaurant- which I finally said something along the lines of we aren’t welcome here we will leave he then tried to embarrass me and asked if I was from Utah- I said yes I live in Salt Lake, he then asked if I’d ever been a server before- again yes for 4 years in college- he stopped off and mumbled under his breath- and screamed I’ll get someone else- we stood up and started to leave and he proceeded to chase us out of the restaurant saying “sorry I wasn’t good enough for you” like a crazy ex boyfriend. It was a wild dramatic scene- I couldn’t make this up if I wanted to- I’ve never seen a grown man throw a temper tantrum before like that in public I can honestly say that’s a first. Dear Joe, I hope someone gives you a hug, because whatever you’re going through has to be extremely rough in order to outwardly behave like that...
Read moreCame for lunch after receiving a recommendation and noticing the nice patio with misters while walking down the main street. There was about a 10 minute wait for an outside table, but there were a few open tables on the inside. There were about 15 tables outside that were cooled by misters. After being seated, waiter immediately came to take the drink and appetizers order. Started off with a Gloria's margarita and some mimosas for drinks and the Red Pepper Hummus with Pita Bread as an appetizer. The drinks came out quickly and were made just right. I liked the addition of the Grand Marnier and the splash of orange juice to the margarita, gave it a nice twist to a classic margarita. The red pepper hummus was very good as it had a nice consistency and a lot flavor.
For the main meals, ordered the Cuban Sandwich, Apple-Walnut-Goat Cheese and Cranberry Salad, and Mediterranean Pasta. All the food came out within 15 minutes and the portions were generous. My favorite was the Apple, Walnut, Goat Cheese, and Cranberry Salad. Those toppings all gave different tastes, textures, and crunches that went well together and complemented the spinach. The Cuban sandwich had a good amount of pork and a nice addition of chorizo to add a different flavor. The Mediterranean pasta was also good with the nice mix of ingredients over the fettuccini.
During the meal, a live musician, Jon O Radio, setup to add music over the meals. His music was nice as he looped in bass and percussion sounds while playing the guitar and singing live. It was a wide range of music that was enjoyable over lunch. Since was just enjoying the music, ordered a Tango Mango smoothie. The smoothie was made with fresh fruits and had nice chunks of coconut in it.
Gloria's was definitely a nice place to have lunch on the patio, be cooled by the misters, enjoy good food, and relax while listening to live music. Will definitely come back when...
