This is not the “old” Toby Keith Bar and Grill! It’s with new restaurant group.

Food: Catfish Dinner

I’ve been twice. First, I had the catfish dinner with okra. I asked if they battered it themselves. They said, “Yes.” So I ordered it. THE best fried okra from a restaurant I’ve ever eaten. Needed a bit of salt but I can take care of that. The catfish was perfect! Fried perfect. Not over done. Cornmeal coating had good flavor. It didn’t taste “fishy” like some do…You know, like the lake they came from. Thicker filets. Not greasy. Their homemade tartar sauce was VERY GOOD! Had great balance. Dill and lemon were not over powering. The side of coleslaw was yummy, too. It is vinegar based instead of Mayo so was expecting to be disappointed. Many over-do the vinegar. I was pleasantly surprised. Mild yet flavorful. Cabbage was still crisply yet soft enough to chew. It comes in a really small bowl. I would like to have had a larger serving.

Food: Fried Bologna Sandwich (I subbed mayo for the BBQ)

Second trip- I usually skip the bologna sandwich when I go to restaurants, so I can’t compare there. But I can compare to my grandma‘s growing up. The sandwich is quite the rival! When they say thick cut baloney, they’re not playing. The Texas toast was perfectly toasted with a buttery flavor that complimented it all. A little salt and pepper on the tomatoes and I’ll have to say, I will go back for this one. I will probably ask them to fry it a little bit more next time. I wouldn’t mind a little char to intensify that great bologna flavor. I got a side of okra again… I couldn’t help myself. They are so good!

Food: Tumbleweed Onions Yes, please! Every time! These are the bomb! We order fried onion appetizers at every restaurant. This is hands-down the best. A crispy mass of onion heaven. They have good flavor. Thin sliced so the texture is there with a bit of crunch and these are waaay less greasy than most places. They come with ranch and a southwest-ish flavored ranch that had a mild flavor.

Service: This is one of the people-nice restaurants I’ve been to in quite a while. The host person greeted with a smile, told me they hope I was having a good day, then, when seated, they told me they were glad I was there. I received well wishes when I exited. They brought the bologna sandwich on the wrong bun (miscommunication between me and my server) they were Johnny on the spot getting me a new one exactly the way I wanted it.

The server staff is very attentive, but not over intrusive. Friendly but not overly chatty.

Atmosphere:

Both times I was there was before 6 PM. The music was not loud, and played current eclectic tunes. Very clean. A lot of Toby Keith memorabilia on the walls. Kind of like a museum. It is really cool. You can also buy merch. The bar is separated from the restaurant by a half wall. The tables and booths are not crammed…You’re not super close to your neighbors. The...

My wife and I stopped by Toby Keith's on a Monday night after other plans fell through.. It was our second visit to this location..

We sat at the bar and received fantastic service from Jack and Jackson, beginning with my bride's Corona, poured into a frosted glass with a lime and the rim dressed with salt.. I had the house margarita, prepared the same way..

She opted for the grilled chicken salad, featuring tumbleweed onions, jack and cheddar cheeses, and cornbread croutons.. She sampled their TK Bighouse dressing, which has a southwestern flair..

The salad was deelish, the tumbleweed onions added a nice touch, and the cornbread croutons were definitely unique..

I ordered the cornmeal crusted and flash fried catfish.. It was accompanied by coleslaw, and I chose their loaded baked potato for my side..

All kidding aside.. I've never, and I mean, ever had such a spread of light and flaky catfish fillets before.. They delivered eight generously sized, perfectly crusted, and lightly fried fillets that were ridiculously tasty..

The loaded potato and coleslaw held their own, but the catfish and their in-house tartar sauce stole the show.. I will definitely choose that entrée again, but when I have a heartier appetite..

All in all, our visit was wonderful, the customer service on point, and the food just made us want to return.. 10 out of...

Update 3/18. Ordered the chicken fried steak. Was horribly over seasoned so much as I could barely eat it. Asked the waitress if any complaints have been made about the seasoning. She said yes and pointed out most said to peppery not to salty. Well, I have ordered this everytime we have been here and although you had a hint of saltiness, this time unfortunately it was inedible for me. If you take the crust off and just eat the meat than it's fine. But I didn't order mine crustless so therefore wanted the crust on it lol. Waitress stated she could bring me something else, or another order of fries but no comp on it. Didn't understand that. I didn't go there to eat a double order of fries either. I do order my fries with no seasoning as well. They put way to much on them at least for me. Good news is, their fish is excellent. Although they have other food that is awesome not sure I will be back. I would have had no problem paying for the fries but to pay for food that was not enjoyable is ridiculous. Smh.... I might add, chicken fried steak has always been my favorite meal and to have finally found a place close enough to me that served a huge portion of it makes me sad to know I can't eat it due to being over seasoned. She did tell me they recently changed their recipe for the chicken fried steak, well it didn't...
