Our visit on 1/7/24 at 9 a.m. was SO disappointing. Approaching the host stand two employees continued a conversation without acknowledging us. When the hostess finally looked at us, she just said "How many?" No "Good morning," 'Hi, "We'll be right with you" etc. We were seated and were greeted fairly quickly. We ordered within a few minutes. After we ordered, we searched one of the several empty tables for a peg game, as the one from our table was missing. (People seated at the table next to us had to do the same.) Our food came out rather quickly, however, our Barrel Bites which we decided to try for the first time was not included in the food that was delivered. It was just our meals. The waitress didn't stick around for a moment or stop back in a minute to inquire how things were. My husband's pancakes were a lot smaller than usual and definitely not as fluffy as usual, and we were only served 2 biscuits in a basket that should have had 4. The biscuits also seemed smaller. I ordered two scrambled eggs and it appeared only one made it to the plate. The bacon was fine but the spiced apples were basically room temperature and looked as though they had been sitting for a while. Ew. This and two sodas for $26.00. We did notice on this occasion, there seemed to be a lot more availability than usual. Now we know why. There were about 6 staff members near the kitchen gathered and socializing. When we went to the the counter to pay, we were not asked how things were, which we are usually asked and the cashier just ran the receipt and waited for us to pay. I told the cashier, "I'm a rewards member." She then voided and printed what she had entered and ran the receipt again so we would receive the rewards credit. We honestly don't know what has happened to this location. We've gone there for years and never had a problem. Everyone was rather aloof and short in what few words were said. Cracker Barrel's motto of "Come and sit a spell," doesn't really translate with what's going on now at this location. I will also say we had never seen any of the staff that was working that shift, from the hostess to the waitress to the check out counter. We routinely eat there on Saturday mornings and maybe Saturday mornings typically schedules the "A" staff? The front of house staff and the kitchen staff needs basic training at the bare minimum. We won't be returning and will be looking for a new breakfast place where we will receive a good meal and are made to...
Read moreAfter a busy, cold, blah Monday and finding out our grocery order wouldn’t be delivered in time to cook, we decided to order from the Cracker Barrel on Regency Drive in Mooresville, NC. We don’t allow ourselves the luxury of eating out so we were really excited. We all decided we wanted some country, comfort food so ee naturally chose Cracker Barrel. We poured over our options for what felt like forever and took the time to request all of the condiments that we would need to get the whole cracker barrel experience, and placed our orsrr at 7:56 pm with the expected ready time at 8:21 pm. My husband was eager to pick it up because we were starving at that point and arrived at 8:08 and I checked him in. He decides to call at 8:29 to let them know that he was there because nobody had come out at that point. His order is brought out at 8:35 and he heads back home, and calls me to find out what I ordered because he could tell we didn’t have enough food for our family of 4. I screen shot the order email with the order # and our selections and send it to him once he confirms at least 2 full entrees were not in our order, . At 8:36 he then has to go into the store and tells the cashier that he is missing items and shows her the screen shots from his phone. She heads back to the kitchen to have then cook the missing items and brings them back out about 10 minutes later. As a former restaurateur, he recognized immediately that the entire staff seemed to be in closing mode so of course he was understanding. He finally got home nearly an hour later and we were so disappointed to find that we were still missing some sides, 3 orders of bread and none of the condiments were included. Not only that, half of the order was ice cold. My husband didn’t mention any negative interactions with the staff, but it’s clear both foh and boh dopped the ball and our dinner did not hit like it should. Even your yummy biscuits need butter and jelly! Customer satisfaction did not seem like a priority at this location and I do not see us taking our chances on it again next time we are...
Read moreThis was an unfortunate experience for us, and we will not be back anytime soon.
My wife and I grew up loving Cracker Barrel. We know that there is normally at least a 45 minute wait for a table at peak times and it can be much longer around "big days.". But the country food cooking was always worth the wait. I think those days are gone.
We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30 pm on a Saturday night and found no wait. We were pleasantly surprised. Then we got the menu, and it had changed. We asked 2 different servers about the country ham dinner (apparently not on the menu anymore). I have ordered this for over 20 years, but, neither server even knew what it was, and both thought i was off my rocker for asking. I ordered something else along with a side of green beans. The green beans were cold and not seasoned at all. I think someone opened a can and put some in a bowl; not what I have had in the past. My wife's chicken and dumplings were horrible and she could not finish them. My daughter loves pancakes and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were very dry and the eggs were way overcooked. My daughter did not want to finish either of them. We brought all the leftovers home for the dog so it would not go to waste.
The couple next to us wanted grilled chicken tenderloins, but, they were told that was not available because the fryer was not working. Nobody could figure out how grilled chicken is cooked in a fryer.
The server was not attentive like we normally have at cracker barrel. Our drinks ran out multiple times. Tables around us were not cleared and dirty dishes were just left piled up on tables. The checkout person was cool and unfriendly, not rude, but also not the warm, country hospitality type person we normally see at the checkout.
Three of us spent about $50.00 for food (plus tip) and another $20 in the store. This will probably the last time we spend anything here. It is very sad to see a restaurant that we loved go so...
