I went to this bar yesterday afternoon for the first time and had a pleasant evening. As the name suggests there is a decent selection of craft beer on tap and a handful of small meals/appetizers as well. They also have the standard fair of common beer and liquor; I didn't have any of the mixed drinks though, I only had beer that was on tap. The bartenders were very nice and would take orders quickly even when it was busy.
Apparently they swap out what's on tap often which is a plus in my book. Prices are reasonable and there are different seating options; one can sit at the bar, side tables or lounge chairs. Fairly small place that probably holds about 100 people or so at max capacity. I went at 5:30 pm during a NFL playoff game to meet some friends and there were a handful of people there. By the time I left (8:40) the place was packed but the noise level was reasonably good, I could still have conversations with the people sitting in front of me without talking loudly despite sitting very close to the tv playing the NFL game on top of the background noise of being in a full bar.
There is a central lobby/enterance that this place and a full size restaurant share. It can be a little tricky to find from the street though. I enjoyed the atmosphere and had a good time hanging out with friends, I'd recommend this place for anyone that's looking for a casual place to have a couple drinks and...
Read moreGoogle asked me to update again. Update is that Hops is still my favorite bar in Morristown.
edit The Lily Pad which is their outdoor space is amazing. Opening back up April 1st officially.
Hops is my favorite bar in Morristown. It has an amazing craft beer selection. It has a majority of New Jersey craft beers but only the best. Always has a variety of breweries and beer types. It is more laid back than most places in Morristown with a hipster vibe. Bar is central with smaller tables on the sides, bigger high tops out front, and couches. And the bar tenders are the best I have ever encountered. They know me so well they always find me the beers I end up falling...
Read moreIt was trivia night. We had to literally wave our arms to get service and the bartender was 2 feet away. More concerned with personal conversation than customers. Craving chicken fingers. Ordered them. Worst chicken fingers I've eaten. Dark brown and flavorless. The beer was ok. They had sales reps in with I don't remember what beer. Bartender talks me into getting it. Not that good but hey, the sign says you order it you drink it. If you go there, ask for a taste 1st. They won't give you something different. Even after they push it on you. I'll try one more time. Place is cute. Maybe an off night. Maybe I'll get a...
