+ Great place to grab a sweet treat, especially on a hot day. I love getting their soft serve cones and shakes. + Menu has your typical American diner fare - burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and fries. + They have their own parking lot with plenty of spaces + There is a restroom for customers + Interior has plenty of seating —booths and tables. + Decor is very old fashioned, but they have a very clean fish tank! + Service is very friendly, but can be slow + Prices are pretty expensive for fast food. My husband and I spent $30 on lunch which we felt was on the pricey side for the quality. + Their burgers are a little dry and unmemorable. I always get their fried chicken sandwiches. Slightly more flavorful and tasty. + I’m not a fan of the French fries here. They are thick and mealy. Overall, this is a great place to get desserts but okay for food. The prices are high for the quality of food. They have weekday specials that are 2 for $4 that make it a little more reasonable. Depending on the day of the week, they have corn dogs, ice cream, and burrito specials.

Foster’s Freeze is more than just a place to grab a bite—it’s a tradition that warms the heart as much as it satisfies the taste buds. The staff here are the kind of people who greet you with genuine smiles and make you feel like family from the moment you walk in. Every meal is deliciously fresh, and the ice cream? Absolutely dreamy—creamy, rich, and perfectly nostalgic. It’s the kind of spot where sharing a cone or a burger with loved ones becomes a memory you cherish for years. Foster’s Freeze isn’t just food—it’s a place where community, kindness, and great taste come together in the sweetest way possible

Fosters Freeze is one of those eatery chains that still stick around even though the larger competitors are stiff competition. I notice them mostly in small towns (like Morro Bay) or in locations that have been in existence for years. The reason this happens is the quality food that is consistent. This trip only involved getting a chocolate shake (they have numerous other flavors on offer), but having a burger and fries is a good idea if you are a little bit more peckish. A modest parking lot is available, but because Morro Bay street parking is not an issue. However, there is no drive-thru.

How the mighty have fallen. I used to love this place for what it was. I go to places like this because I'm trying to save money. Look, staff was nice they're just doing their job but the prices/polices are way out of proportion to what the food is. I even threw down a tip which doesn't make sense at a fast food counter but thought I was being nice. $22 for a double burger, fries and a medium soda. Burger was good but really greasy and the fries were just okay. What threw me over the edge is there are no refills on sodas (an already insane mark-up item on any menu) so I up-sized the drink. There was so much ice in the drink I couldn't put the straw through, opened the lid and two brick walls of ice in there offsetting the soda. Two regular sips and half the cup is gone. I was thirsty so I pleased for a refill but no can do so I got a cup of disgusting Morro Bay tap water (sorry I love MB but the water is awful). Foster's freeze might have been an institution at one point but when I feel like I'm being ripped off, why would...

Very unpleased with this location!!! My husband and I were searching for a place to grab a bite after the drive in movie and found online that they were one of the few places in Morro Bay open until 10 pm on a Saturday night. As I walked in the door at about 9:30 pm, the female employee walked over to the closed sign and turned it around and told me that we couldn't order any food because they were closed but that if we wanted ice cream that it was ok. I told her that we actually wanted food and that that we looked it up and it states online that they are open for another half hour and that was our reason for coming there. She replied, no, we are actually close at 9:30. She basically kicked us out of there. Why not assist the last two customers of the night since we were already inside before they closed? Either she was lieing in order to get off sooner or the Google, Yelp, etc. all need to be updated with current hours...
