How unfortunate! Poor Management and No Service
A couple of years ago, during a family trip to Myrtle Beach we discovered (what we thought was) the best Friendly's we had ever been to. Fast and friendly service, great food, clean environment, and an overall amazing experience.
We were so impressed that we knew that we'd be returning to dine in this particular Friendly's on our next visit as it was amazing and within 15 minutes walking distance of our hotel. We returned on a Wednesday morning at 9am. There was no wait and the establishment was fairly empty. We were seated almost immediately by who we now realize was the manager. 15 minutes go by and other than being seated we had not been acknowledged.
We decided to ask the host if he could let our server know that we were still waiting. He did and 5 minutes later our server arrived and unapologetically tried to just take our drink orders but we said that we'd also like to order our food as we had ample time to look at the menu.
Our server took our orders and we thought "Awesome, FOOD" but unfortunately, food did not come :( 10 minutes go by and we had not received our drinks so we thought it's about time to ask the manager for assistance because it was looking fairly dismal at this point. This is when we discovered that the manager was the person who had shown us to our table.
I immediately thought yikes. Typically if you are sat by anyone, the server is made aware of the new customers and then greets the customers and asks for the drink orders. So obviously a manager would be very aware of this as it is commonplace.
When we expressed our frustrations we were met with confusion and a dismissive tone. The manager stated that there were different sections for each server....I looked just as confused as the rest of my family and even more so than you, the reader.
At this point I decided to call it and make the decision to leave. Again there were no apologies, no resolution, and just a complete lack of care or understanding that the situation could have been addressed and handled in some manner, but was not.
At this time I would not recommend anyone dining here because there is a chance that you could be ignored. But if you like to gamble, are not hungry, or just want to spice things up and get your blood pumping on an empty stomach, THIS is the Friendly's for you!
To the credit of the rest of the establishment, other people (who were seated before and after us were in fact seated and greeted and some were even eating before we NEVER got water) so even without proper management some people still did their jobs. I think that with proper management, this place could be a wonderful place to eat again as it is very convenient to most of the resorts and hotels.
I do highly recommend Mammy's Kitchen if you want amazing and warm service as well as tasty food and smiling faces. I will be posting a glowing review for such an amazing...
Read moreI’m normally a very reasonable customer, but this restaurant was probably the worst-managed chain diner I’ve been to. I wouldn’t normally go into the specifics, but they’re too funny not to tell. First, my group of 6 ordered several sides of fries and ice cream. I ordered a burger without tomato and onion. A few minutes after ordering, a burger came out that was not even close to what I ordered. The waiter apologized and left. They brought out the fries after about 30minutes, and at about this time they brought ice cream out as well. That of course was wrong and again the waiter/manager??? Apologized and made a different excuse as to why the orders kept getting messed up. He blamed new staff one time and a personal issue for another screw up. They were not only over staffed but it was UNREAL how many waitresses were walking back and forth, doing nothing. One waitress was SWEEPING the carpet with a broom, the others mostly stood in a circle talking the whole time. The kitchen doors were left open and a member of my party saw a cook drop a handful of fries on the ground, pick them up, and put them on a plate. After an hour of waiting my burger finally came and it was wrong, with normal fries instead of waffle fries and tomato and lettuce even though I requested it wasn’t put on the burger. At this point we decided to cut our losses, because they had brought the wrong type of ice cream multiple more times and then we asked for ranch dressing several times and they kept “forgetting” it. Probably 3 times, at least. It got to the point where we thought it was funny and it seemed possible that we were on a hidden camera show with how much wacky stuff was going on. The manager came over and told us that after everything our bills would be comp’ed and it would make up for the unpleasant experience. When we got the bills, they showed that we owed for MORE than the bill should have been. It was pretty funny to an extent. We did pay the bill, but on the way out they knew our frustration but didn’t seem to care. Truly the worse dining experience I...
Read moreWe went with friends who had been before. It took us 30 minutes to get our drinks once she took our order. I ordered a cheeseburger & asked for them not to add ranch & put the onion strings on the side. Well, she brought the food & it had ranch & the onion strings on the burger. Since we'd waited so long, I decided to just wipe the ranch off. My wife told me to send it back, but truthfully, I didn't want to wait for my food again. I scraped the onion strings off, but that also took off the majority of the honey BBQ that came on my burger. I sucked it up & ate it. Finally, the check came & they had it so messed up that it literally took 45 minutes to get it straight, no kidding, 45 minutes. During which time the manager came around asking about our service/food & we told her what happened. She apologized & said she wouldn't charge us for the burger since it had gotten messed up, we told her we didn't mind paying, and we just wanted to pay & leave. We'd been there 2+ hours at this point. She insisted it was free & went to take it off & help our waitress correct the problem with the ticket. She didn't take the burger off. Each time she came back to our table, there was something new added to our ticket. It was literally the worst service I have had in a long time & took us about 3 hours to get out of there. I will never go there again! It'd be different if the food was good, but 2 of the 3 burgers our group ordered were under cooked. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich had a hair in it & a guy in our group almost got sick when he found it. No lie, it was 3-4 inches long & curly. This was, hands down, the worst meal/service we've ever had! I would seriously consider somewhere else before you go there. If you do be prepared to wait, get things you didn't order, & have a waitress snap at you like it was your fault, they messed up so badly! It was just a horrible, horrible experience. It really ruined our...
