The Gaslight restaurant on Nantucket is a new permutation of an old restaurant on Nantucket. This was most recently The Starlight, a restaurant with bar AND movie theater.

The Starlight had been in place for more than 15 years before it closed within the past few years. It was a popular hangout as a bar. It hosted BINGO for several years. It was a restaurant. More importantly, it was one of two movie theaters on the island and for several years, the ONLY movie theater. I had frequented the theater on Saturdays with my own children.

Now as The Gaslight, which is what it had been called when I first went to Nantucket in 1990, has been totally re-done. The movie theater is gone (so sad). The bar is now the centerpiece of the place and is centrally located. There is a large dining room and a smaller dining area. There is a stage in the large dining room for live music. There is also outdoor seating.

I was there for late brunch on Sunday, May 15 2022. My daughter and I split a PB&J scone (needed more strawberry jam for me). I had the Smash Patty Melt. Very, very good with plenty of caramelized and garlic. My daughter had Bagel Sammies with smoked salmon. She said that she enjoyed it. We chose outdoor seating as it was a very nice day out.

The waitress was very attentive, keeping water glasses filled and making sure we did not need/want anything else. The location is one of the best in-town in my opinion, NOT on Main Street.

Expect Nantucket prices but otherwise, The Gaslight is well worth it and I would eat there again. In fact, I...

This is a tough one. The drinks were fine. The karaoke was fun. 3/4 of the bartenders were very pleasant. But one of the bartenders was consistently unpleasant all night long. I tried to get a few beers, he thought I asked for waters and told me how annoying that was (which is bad enough) and then was slow and rude in actually getting me the order. The next time I came to get a drink he rolled his eyes and was very unpleasant. Several of the other patrons I talked to confirmed he (and not the other bartenders) was extremely rude, and an off duty employee went so far as to get me a shot “for my troubles”. If you come here you may get great service and perfectly fine drinks, but if this guy serves you you’ll likely have a very...

The proprietors of the Gaslight are a gift to this island. They creatively resurrected a beloved island establishment making it better than ever with their food, good company, outstanding service, awesome atmosphere and great music. Such a delight to have them. Tough to get in as it is outrageously popular. You may notice some negative reviews within the last day or so. These are false and simply a vendetta against them personally which they do not deserve. If those reviews were true, why would there always be a line around the block to get in? Gaslight Nantucket is outstanding in every way. Islanders are so grateful for what Callie and...

My husband said he would give this restaurant a 10 if he could. Located in center of town. Our server Carla was so sweet. Very attentive. It began to drizzle and the staff immediately came out to ask us to move inside if we wished. It passed quickly and enjoyed the peaceful outside area. Food was amazing. Asian influence. After dinner we moved our way inside and sat at the bar until the band started at 10:30. So glad we did!!! Amazing vibes , great bar staff and service!! Enjoy!

The gaslight is a cool spot on a side street right off Main. We had some small plates that were good and drinks were ok. The one killer of this place is it is over priced for the quality of food and drink. All of Nantucket is expensive but my drink at almost $20 was no where as one you would get at another highend restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, it is a good spot.. but be prepared to overpay.
