Last week on August 9, 2025, my family and I enjoyed a lunch outing at a restaurant. We were a group of 9, including my sister and her family visiting from Iceland. They were eager to try a restaurant in California, and I proudly recommended the best sushi spot in Napa - Eikos. However, our experience turned sour when we felt discriminated against due to our Asian heritage. Our server was inconsistent and seemed uninterested in taking our orders. My 5-year-old nephew found a foreign object in his shrimp tempura, resembling a green sponge-like plastic that had been fried with the tempura. I called the server over, who took the piece of tempura with the foreign object by hand. Another server approached us and casually asked if we needed anything, showing no concern for the foreign object in the food. When the manager finally came over, his dismissive attitude was evident from the beginning. He acknowledged the foreign object but made no apology, simply stating that it was a green sponge-like substance and that he had removed it from our bill. There was a lack of empathy or caring shown towards us as paying customers. Feeling unheard and disrespected, I voiced my concerns about the unclean food preparation, lack of customer care, and overall negligence displayed by the staff. I feared for what may be happening behind the scenes in the kitchen. To make matters worse, after our meal at this restaurant, my entire family fell ill with upset stomachs and fevers. I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant for the sake of your health. It is clear that they prioritize profit over the well-being of their customers, and our experience was a clear reflection of that. Please avoid this establishment if you value your health and safety.

My wife and I planned our Napa trip months ago. One of the things we always try to do on the west coast is get seafood and sushi. We looked up sushi joints in Napa and were impressed with the reviews for this place and decided to get a reservation. We planned our entire day around this meal. When we arrived it started out good with the appetizers but quickly crashed when our sushi rolls arrived. The rice was thick and so sticky you had trouble chewing and swallowing. It didn’t have that typical sushi rice taste (sushi vinegar). I looked behind the counter and saw one of those machines that supermarkets use to make sushi. The kind that prints out the rice in to the seaweed. It’s a shame because the fish was good and the sauces were solid. If you don’t care about quality and just want a snack, check this place out. If you like quality seafood or sushi, I definitely recommend going somewhere else! I will say the staff were friendly. I have no complaints about their professionalism. Thank you!

This is probably one of my favorite Sushi Restaurants of all time. The ambiance is perfect for my tastes and the selections are out of this world! One of the reasons why I love this place is that some of the dishes are real pieces of art. As a designer I really appreciate how some restaurants really put in the extra effort in the aesthetic aspect of their dishes. When ever I go there I always blow a TON of cash because of it lol. The food and drinks are top notch so it's all good. When I went last I had a server in training and both the trainer and trainee were both excellent. Really love great service. I also tried something new which was the Kobe Beef roll. Never had that before. It was different and quite delicious. They also still have the Covid barriers/table/booth separators up too so if you are a little nervous about going out that might offer a little comfort. Anyways, don't take my word for it, when you're in the downtown napa area definitely give Eiko's a shot!

They were no tables available when we first got there. So we were offered to sit on the patio where we had ONE drink while waited for our table. We waited over 1 1/2 hs. and we're NEVER offered anything else. We spoke and wait to the staff 2 times about our wait. I finally got tired after almost 2 hours and brought us back to the front (reception area) we were tod nothing was available BUT while we stood there 2 parties that just walked in there and the receptionist asked to the other people how many in their party, and were immediately seated. After this happened 2 times I walked out but my daughter who had her heart set on eating there cried. We went back in and I complained and was told others before us had reservations. This was not so because I HEARD THEM BEING ASKED AS THEY ARRIVED HOW MANY IN THEIR PARTY and then they were seated. They hostesses LIED to us. After waiting another 15 minutes, we were seated. The hostess threw the menus at us saying: "here, here, here" she did not do this to my young child though. We ordered our food but were NEVER offered anything to drink. Our food was served but NEVER did a server come back to us asking how we were doing or if we needed anything. My husband left after a few bites of food as he felt ill. My daughter in law and I, had a taste of his food which was EXTREMELY salty. My daughter in law ended up running to the restroom feeling ill herself. When she returned, she noted that there, was not paper towels or toilet paper available in the restroom. We then decided to leave and my daughter in law was so disappointed and I feelling we felt iut food and service was a disaster and not worthy. Yes, we walked out without paying. WHY????? Terrible service, food ", disrespect, discriminatory. Why? Because we weren't to ghier standards?? I wore a tye dyed tshirt, my husband was unshaven and we didn't fit in???.... Shame on you EIKOS for employing such snobs. You know nothing about us and to have been trays the way we were....was unsatisfactory. And that JAPANESE restaurant plays music by The Beatles and serves Mexican ceviche that can be bought at the local store for $8.... Get real.... Who are the real snobs just because you are in Napa????... BTW, the menu outside says different prices, cheaper, than the real...

Talk about the BIGGEST waste of time and money. We came here to celebrate the end of 2023 with a nice dinner and couldn’t have been more disappointed. We waited 40 minutes with no one to welcome us or take our order. We had to ask a “host” who looked like Paul wall and was very rude taking our “order”. After waiting a long time after this initial order my husband went to the bar to ask for our drinks and the bar tender told him to calm down, everyone is frazzled and to deal with it. And he was the only “blonde” bartender and we needed to wait. This is offensive because my husband is Costa-Rican and most of the servers were Hispanic. He came over and rudely dropped the drinks off with no comments as he told my boyfriend when he left the bar they are very stressed out and we needed to wait because they are staying open later than normal. 40 minutes into our reservation the server showed up and didn’t apologize. We told Him we were leaving and why and also told the host (who also didn’t care). All He asked is if we ate anything so we could pay if we needed to. We didn’t eat or drink anything. Save your money and your time Unless you are coming here on a random night and DON’t expect good service or value for your money. The WORST way to try and celebrate the end of 2023!! I own a business and would never conduct business this way. We went back to Scala osteria, which was wonderful food and Service. If you want sushi you SHOULD go to Morimoto, 100%, it’s better service and probably...
