I recently stayed at 1 Hotel Nashville, and while the room itself was truly incredible—spacious, beautifully designed, with a stunning city view from the 12th floor—there were several areas where the experience fell short, especially considering the price. For nearly double what I’ve paid at the Four Seasons, I was surprised to find many basics missing that would be standard at a hotel of that caliber.

The room was impressive in its aesthetic, but I expected more when it came to the amenities. For the price, I assumed items like a dental kit, shaving kit, and extra coffee and cream would be readily available and fully stocked. To my surprise, none of these were included unless requested. Even the mini-fridge should have been stocked with basic items at this price point. It’s not about being all-inclusive, but at Four Seasons, you get these essentials without having to ask.

One major highlight was the complimentary two-hour use of an electric vehicle, which was a wonderful touch and made exploring the city more convenient and enjoyable. We decided to visit Southall Farm in Franklin, which had been advertised as part of the hotel’s partnership. The drive itself was amazing—scenic and enjoyable in the electric vehicle. However, upon arrival, we were disappointed to find that we were not allowed to enter the property or enjoy lunch there, despite this being a key attraction promoted by the hotel. This was a significant letdown, especially given the effort we put into planning the trip.

Additionally, I was disappointed by the water quality in the room and at the drinkable water fountain. The taste wasn’t what I expected from a filtration system, leaving me concerned about its effectiveness. This is something that could definitely be improved to meet the standards of such a high-end property.

The dining experience at the hotel was a letdown. The menu at 1 Kitchen was extremely limited, which became an issue since we ate there for two nights in a row. Unfortunately, both nights offered the same experience—lackluster options and nothing new to try. For families, it was particularly disappointing as there wasn’t even a single crayon or activity to keep kids entertained while dining. Considering the hotel knew we were staying with a child, I would have expected more thoughtfulness on this front.

One key frustration was the rooftop area. It should be open to families during the day for breakfast and lunch, as it could have been a great space to enjoy meals with a view. However, outside of hotel guests, it was restricted to 21-and-over during much of the day. This limited our dining options and felt restrictive, especially for a family-friendly hotel.

When we checked in, the guest relations team was great—warm, welcoming, and informative. They knew we were staying with two adults and a child, yet when I requested a dental kit through the app, only one was delivered. We also asked for extra Nespresso coffee for our first morning and ended up receiving decaf on the first try, regular coffee on the second, and had to ask a third time for cream to enjoy it. It was a lot of effort just to have a cup of coffee in the morning. Additionally, the Nespresso selection was very dark and not suited for everyone’s taste. I would recommend offering Columbia as a must-have option. Oddly, the room had only one wine glass—something I’ve never seen before in a hotel.

On the positive side, the hotel is beautiful, albeit small with not much to do inside. The scent throughout the property is lovely, and the welcome plate from the GM with fruit and chocolates was a thoughtful touch. The staff members were all friendly but could benefit from better training, especially given the premium price.

Overall, while the hotel’s design and certain perks stood out, I couldn’t help but compare it to the more seamless, well-rounded experience at the Four Seasons, where everything is effortlessly available, and service is truly top-tier. For what you pay at 1 Hotel, I expected a more...

My husband and I are DIE HARD fans of the 1 Hotel. We've spent weeks staying at the South Beach location as well as Central Park West and Brooklyn for drinks/dinner. Before I get into the nitty gritty, I want this to be clear. We had high expectations.

We recently moved to Nashville & upon hearing of the 1 hotel's opening here, we decided to go in for drinks & dinner before a show at the Ryman. Our initial impression seeing the white building with the signature ivy/moss, was that we knew we'd arrived. We didn't even need to look at the sign. We came across the two double doors leading out to the street & pulled them to open. They were locked. We then walked back & forth across the building to see if perhaps we were at the wrong door. It was the only discernible entrance. We pulled again, but the doors were locked shut. We thought: "I guess they aren't opened yet..I wonder why they let us make a reservation for dinner?" I then saw a buser on the patio sweeping. I stuck my head through the gate to get his attention & asked him if he could let me inside. He came around & opened the doors. Unfortunately, after opening the outside facing doors, the vestibule door leading into the restaurant locked behind him. We were trapped in the vestibule. Eventually, security came & let us in. If you want patrons to come spend money in your hotel, keep the doors unlocked. Maybe even hire a bellman like there are at other 1 Hotels?

What I am about to say is not a criticism of any individual employee. Everyone tried hard & had the best intention, but it was very clear that there was no leadership in place. No management. Upon finally entering, we settled in to some comfy seats on a sofa in the lobby & waited for someone to come offer us drinks. That person never came. Eventually, my husband walked to the bar & asked the bartender if we could order drinks. She was very kind & offered to bring them over to us, but it was clear that this was an unusual request: as if no one had ever sat in the lobby and had a drink before.

25 minutes later, she brought over our drinks (apparently there was a gin shortage). We weren't offered napkins/coasters. We asked the bartender if she could send over the waiter, she said she would. He never came. We then went back up to the bar to order food. 5 minutes later, there was an onslaught of 5 different people all trying to take our order. There was no communication/basic organization of division of responsibility. Eventually, we decided the service would probably be more streamlined if we just took at table in the dining room. Our waiter meant well, was attentive, but was obviously not very experienced & didn't really have any support.

The UX design for the QR code menu is truly miserable. It takes a very save person to figure out how to toggle between the different menus. Additionally, the menu simply isn't accurate or updated. I really wanted a glass of pinot noir, however, there were only three glasses of red wine on the menu: 2 different Cabernets & a Tempranillo. I asked the waiter: "Do you have just three glasses of red wine on the menu?" "Yes." "Do you have any pinot noir by the glass?" "Um,I think we just sold out-let me check."

He came back & announced that they do have pinot noir available. I'd really encourage the beverage director to take a look at the menu.

The food was truly mediocre & in some cases, inedible. The Caesar salad was almost too salty to eat (&yes I love anchovies) there just seemed to be copious amounts of salt drenched on whole leaves of romaine that were impossible to stab, cut, serve, eat. We also weren't given any utensils to serve it with. The mushrooms tasted like 5 day old fish. I was unable to to eat them. $360 later (which I will happily spend for the 1 hotel I know & love) I felt like we were in some sort of counterfeit hotel. The 1 Hotel is a luxury hotel & a name that I respect & seek out.

We did not visit the 1 Hotel last night. This was...

I stayed here 2 nights for a company meeting. The hotel is very clean, updated/modern, and has thoughtful little touches that help made my stay feel amazing. The hotel is also located in a great area, restaurants, clubs, bars, a mall, and many other places are in a walkable distance.

There’s a bar and restaurant on the first floor and a bar/restaurant on the rooftop. They get very very loud and clubby in the evening and night so they’re not the best places to go if you’re trying to have a quiet conversation and a drink. The food provided by the hotel for the conference was solid, however, I couldn’t eat 3 of the 4 meals because they did not have gluten free options, I had to find another restaurant outside of the hotel to be able to have an actual meal.

There are a bunch of conference rooms on the 3rd floor my company utilized for our meetings and happy hour. The gym on the 4th floor has a squat rack, which is amazing for a hotel gym. They have a few resistance machines, cable machine, cardio equipment, weights, and a stretching/yoga area.

The hotel room itself is relatively spacious feeling. It comes with robes and slippers. There are no walls dividing the bathroom and room, which is fine if you’re staying by yourself. The shower area is nice, with a waterfall shower, however, the seal between the bottom of the door and floor are not super tight so if you splash water on the door, it will sneak into the bathroom area making the floor wet. The toiletries provided smell like lavender and are a good quality. The toilet is in a clear room next to the shower, which is fine if you’re by yourself, but probably a little awkward if you’re sharing the room and want more privacy. There’s a full vanity on the opposite side of the sink, which is nice for putting on makeup or doing hair.

In the bar area there’s a nespresso machine, wine, snacks, Jack Daniel’s mini whiskey set, and a cool Hotel 1 Swell water bottle. There’s also a mini fridge fully stocked with liquor, seltzers, beer, etc.

The TV can mirror your phone, you can watch on demand, or live tv. There was no Netflix/streaming option that I could find.

The room itself has a very modern, environmentally friendly, yet upscale vibe. The view of the city through the floor to ceiling windows were a plus. I didn’t hear any noise from connecting rooms. Another nice feature was the ability to turn all the lights on/off/night mode by the door and bed. You could also press a button that requests the room to be cleaned or do not disturb mode.

All in all, I loved my stay. My major concern was the lack of gluten free options. Over the course of three days, I only had one full meal (breakfast on day 3) due to this oversight. I’m glad I brought a bunch of protein bars to get me through lunches and dinners. Allergies are a pain, but I assumed a nice hotel like this would be more accommodating. Aside from that, my stay was perfect and I would...
