The short and sweet: Wild Wasabi is a pretty great place to get sushi in a city that isn’t known for its sushi. It has a good atmosphere, reasonable prices, and it’s in within walking distance from a lot of the other Nashville attractions so you can satisfy your sushi cravings and then walk off all the rice you just consumed. If I lived in Nashville it’d definitely be a spot I frequented.
The long and bitter: This is the only sushi restaurant I’ve had the opportunity to try in Nashville so I’m not able to say whether it’s the best in the city or not but it’s definitely recommendation worthy.
From what I could tell, there was only one server on shift the night I went, along with about 20-25 customers throughout the restaurant. And even with the ratio not being in her favor she still managed to take care of everyone so mad props to her for holding it down.
The food itself was also very good. I’ve seen some reviews claim otherwise but I bet it’s Wild Wasabi’s competition just trying to give them a bad name. Not today, Satan! We ordered the edamame, calamari, and three different sushi rolls (rainbow, dynamite, and couple rolls) and all of them were very tasty. The rainbow roll is a staple for me at any sushi joint I go to and Wild Wasabi’s was comparable to some of the better ones I’ve had. So don’t sleep on it!
The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was also very welcoming and you could tell they pride themselves on cleanliness (especially during these COVID times) which I appreciated as well.
All in all, as I said initially, Wild Wasabi is a solid sushi restaurant in a town that focuses more on BBQ and fried foods. You may find better elsewhere but you’ll definitely find worse too so shout out to the team for an...
Read moreThis place was an absolute disappointment. My 15 y/o cousin has cancer and is currently undergoing chemo. After her blood transfusion this morning we decided to grab some lunch here. We both ordered the teriyaki chicken entree. We got our soup and salad first, both of which were horrible but because we already ordered we decided to just not eat that part because we did not want to be difficult. Then my cousin gets her food before me. In all honesty, a healthy steamer meal looked more appetizing. She took one bite and it instantly made her stomach upset. Of course, we considered that maybe it was the chemo altering her taste buds. But everyone at the table took a bite and agreed it was nasty. Regardless of it being nasty, we we're forced to leave because once she gets sick we instantly have to get her back to her medicine. We then explained that we would like our order canceled but that we would pay for our drinks. Not only did they not refund my cousin's meal (that was so little eaten it could still pass as untouched), they attempted to make us pay for the food we hadn't even recieved. We tried explaining the situation and why we absolutely had to go, but they still did not budge on making us pay. Finally after some words, we were able to leave but STILL had to pay for my cousins meal. We are completely unimpressed with how insensitive they were to the fact that my cousin was/is sick. If it wasn't for the fact that my cousin is embarrassed and hurt by their actions, I wouldn't even take the time to make this review. Aside from how they treated us, the food genuinely was not good and I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreI went to Wild Wasabi, a place I have been going to for years, and had dinner with a client. I have never been more put off by a restaurant in my life. At 8:00 They were rushing us out of there. The restaurant closes at 9 PM. The server who had been friendly all night, was incredibly rude, started taking our plates away with food still on them- ignoring us when we said stop. Rolls are $20 a piece. She picked up my saki bottle that was still full and tried to take it away. I had to grab it out of her hands, still not, to tell her I still wanted it even though she had to have known. If hours say 9 then those are your hours. Do not try to rush a paying customer… who tips 30% … out of your establishment almost an hour before you close. I was embarrassed in front of my client but more embarrassed for them. The most unprofessional restaurant experience I’ve had in years. I will never go back again. I will tell everyone not to go here. You should be ashamed. Go to Sushi 888, Sonobana, Oku, Sunda before going here. What an embarrassment. We supported you during Covid… and when no one was going there at all, just to be treated like this now. No thank you. There are sushi places that will treat you better who take pride in their work. You have high roller clients… skip this place and go with others I...
