If I could do two separate reviews of this venue, I would. The first day I was in the venue was a nightmare -- the venue staff were completely rude to me and didn't allow me to go to areas that were previously designated for me to go. I felt like they were rude to me at every single turn and I really did not appreciate it one bit. It was completely unnecessary and ridiculous. They were not accommodating to my special needs at all. I feel like the staff on the first day were very rigid and not flexible to the many changing needs and requirements of someone with special needs. One staff member refused to let me pass by her in order to use the restroom even though I had the necessary clearance to use any bathroom in the venue. She was even sarcastic and rude about it, holding up a piece of paper to show me that my name wasn't on "my special little paper for special little people". That was AWFUL. As a person with special needs and disabilities, to be treated in such a manner was inexcusable.
The second day I was in the venue was a complete 180* from the first day. The second day, the staff were kind, sweet, engaging, warm, and even funny! I had no problems with the venue staff on the second day whatsoever. They were accommodating to my special needs without making it difficult for me. I even got to know one of the venue staff members who shared with me a difficult living situation she was experiencing and we were able to bond over a shared experience. I feel like the staff on the second day did their jobs and did them well. I honestly don't think I can accurately paint a picture of how very different the staff was from Day 1 to Day 2. It was like night and day. I very much enjoyed my time at the venue BECAUSE of the staff on Day 2. I hope the VENUE can recall everyone they used for staffing on Day 2 and continue to employ them because they made it a nice, fun, safe place to be.
There were not a lot of options for food, and the staff in the deli were quite rude. There was an hour and a half wait for a hoagie, and I feel like that's a bit excessive. I bought an iced coffee (like one you would buy previously prepared at a gas station. I think it was Dunkin Donuts brand) and they charged me FIVE DOLLARS for it. Excessive. Very excessive. There was not nearly an adequate amount of outdoor seating beside the deli.
The restrooms did stay stocked and cleaned throughout the entire event and that's important. The venue was clean overall and I saw venue staff working hard and consistently to make sure the venue was clean. I very much appreciated that.
I would say the venue wasn't completely wheelchair friendly. The restroom designated for wheelchairs wasn't nearly large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, so I'm not sure how it was useful. I didn't notice a lot of ramps but I did notice a lot of escalators and stairs.
Parking was nice. It was cheap and close to the venue. It was a little tough to find the parking inside the venue but once we found it, it was nice. I would definitely park there again if we were at this venue again.
The EVENT staff was wonderful, as always. I hope in the future the EVENT chooses a different VENUE. LOVE the EVENT, didn't...
Read moreI was a vendor for a show today. I've been here twice before for the same show. I own a small business in Wilson County, being here is a big deal for me! I paid $20 per day for parking and $1,000.00 for my booth rental. I was told the first day, that the Music City Center People were being very difficult to work with this year. (foreshadowing) The show ended at 4:00 pm. I went to get my truck about 10 till 4 and drive to the loading dock my daughter stayed to breakdown the booth. I made it to my truck and drove around the corner to the loading dock ramps. There were two cars in front of me. They were turning around and going back out. I drive a long bed truck. I need room to turn around. The truck behind me was much larger and another 20 or so cars where behind that truck. When I got to the gate he said you can't be here till 4:00 pm. It was about 6 minutes till. I said I'll just wait. He didn't seem to know what to do. He called someone who said if I didn't move he would call the police which he did when I asked to speak to his boss as to why and how I could turn around when it's moments before 4 pm. The police officer asked me what was the problem. (now it's 3 minutes till 4 pm) as I tried to explain the man who called the police is interrupting me. I actually felt threatened. The police officer asked me to get in my truck. I did. He came to my window (it's now 4:00 pm) he told me to take a breath everything was okay. I think he knew I felt threatened. He explained that they have rules to obey. I agreed and apologized for causing a problem. He told me to go ahead to the guard who would let me in. I also apologized to that guard. They identified me and allowed me to pass thru to the loading docks. I drove up the loading docks and was directed to the dock to turn in. Another very angry man was waiting for me. He pointed at me and said I was on HIS turf now and I would be the last person he would let in the gate. Now I'm really feeling threatened. He makes me park at the very back of the loading area and allows all the people who were also sitting in that line early, go on in. I tried to drive back up (it's raining) and ask why they can go in. They where all sitting there early too. He again pointed at me and threatened to call the police? I'm 5' 3" I weigh about 115 pounds and I'm almost 60 years old. I have never felt so threatened in my life by a bunch of men with a vendetta against someone for not being able to turn a truck around in 3 minutes. To make a very long story end. My daughter and I carried all of our booth equipment. 2 tables, a large sign, 22 tablecloths and a screen that weighs 85 pounds, out to my truck at the very end of the driveway in the rain. There were oncoming cars and trucks coming at us and it was just as frightening as facing all those angry men. I'm home now and I'm still shaking. Please be careful at this place. I'm not sure who is actually in charge but they are not friendly to women. I firmly believe that they were watching us struggle on all the cameras they have rolling, for their own private pleasure. Ladies...
Read moreNashville Music City Center was the site of my very first convention I have attended. I have a lot of mixed feelings regarding the experience, because while the Walker Stalker event itself was nearly everything I had hoped for and expected, the building which the event was held as well as the building's staff left me feeling extremely dissatisfied. My friends and I spent a lot of money to attend this event, and even drove 10 hours to attend. The Walker Dead crew were each absolutely amazing - so kind, courteous, and respectful to all who were in attendance. However, the staff of Nashville Music City Center were atrocious at best. I was removed from the event floor to be told that I was banned from the building and would not be allowed to attend any events located within the building ever again. I was accused of "shaking a beer" and "deliberately aiming it and shooting it at staff members" without a single piece of evidence other than one of their staff member's false accusation. The security staff proceeded to inform me that the police officer would be removing me from the event as well as those I was in attendance with. I have never been more offended nor infuriated in my life. After pleading with the staff member and the officer, advising them of what actually transpired as well as offering to locate several witnesses to behavior throughout the event, and allowing them to not only smell my breath, but also to test my "functionality" by requesting me to follow the officer's finger with my eyes. This was extremely embarrassing to be put through this and was completely and entirely uncalled for. Nashville Music City Center is 100% responsible for turning what could have been an amazing first experience into my absolute worst nightmare. I couldn't even enjoy myself after that interaction, and should have just left at that point anyway. This wasted time is directly responsible for the lost opportunity to see my absolute favorite star from The Walking Dead as well as get their autograph. I will never attend another event hosted by this facility, which extends to the friends and family I was attending the event with, as I am the only one willing to drive...
