My girlfriend and I stayed at 1 Hotel in the past and had a nice experience at 1 Kitchen during that stay so we decided to have dinner at 1 Kitchen for New Year’s Eve and sadly it was terrible. They claimed a 5-course meal which sounded great for NYE but despite paying per person it turned out to be shared dishes so we received a single 5-course meal to share.
We were seated between 10-15 minutes after arriving for our reservation. Waiting 10 or even 15 minutes is just fine but unbeknownst to us, this was merely the amuse bouche of what felt more like a social experiment to test our patience. Each course took 30 minutes or more to arrive and we weren’t the only table waiting for the post office to arrive with our meal.
Once we received each course, we were met with mediocre tastes to share. Even the desserts were disappointing somehow.
This NYE dinner was a prefixed menu but we called many days before booking it to ask if the meat were replaceable with chicken because neither my girlfriend or I eat beef or pork. They told us on the phone that they would do replacements and I confirmed this multiple times before and after booking the reservations. This was simply a lie. They did not replace anything and the only option they offered was a vegetarian plate with hummus or double of what didn’t include beef or pork. For example, one course was a steak and scallops so they simply gave us two plates of scallops. To top it off, we had to verify every course didn’t have beef or pork because even though I called ahead multiple times, directly reminded both the host and our waiter that we specified no beef or pork, the first course we received was beef tartar.
They were so unorganized and scattered that we had to ask for our next course almost each time and after 2.5 hours we were done waiting so we asked for course 4 & 5 to be brought together so we could just get it done. We explained this request to two people and then they brought us the 5 course skipping 4th entirely.
If they had just been honest with us about not offering replacement meats then we would have went somewhere else and our previous experience would not have...
Read moreThis restaurant was perfect. The room was darkly lit with tons of greenery everywhere and wood elements. I ordered the Springer Mountain Farms Chicken and it was very good. Nice and tender with a bit of char but could use some more salt. Definitely more of that farro too, which didn't have too much lemon herb flavor as I hoped. But was otherwise so so delicious, just a few tweaks. I tasted bites from the whole family but my mom ordered the Seared Hokkaido Scallops and they were definitely my favorite. They were cooked to perfection, with just the right texture which is hard to get right. They had these small pieces of garlic scapes which were such a crunchy and powerful flavor to the meal and balanced the heartiness of the grilled vegetables perfectly. For dessert we got the Pistachio Lemon Cake which had a very nice presentation. It was good although the dense pistachio cake was the only pistachio element and got overpowered by the lemon. Service was nice, and per the other posts, we also got a visit from the chef. Something that you rarely see now, and was very considerate. He seemed very open to talking past the food and instead about his journey to get to where he is. Would definitely recommend this place, surprised the place...

Booked this restaurant to celebrate a special event. Let me tell you upfront it is pricey! $500 to just rent the back space with a larger table, keep in mind this is not a closed room. (We were swatting flies away from our food the entire time) This is not typical at any other restaurant and does not come with any special amenities. You will still have to pay 18% grat and 5% service fees. Even to cut a cake $12 per person! The menu is very restricted for larger parties I had to really advocate to get a few Al la carte items. Forget last minute changes, when I asked to add more people to the list I was quickly told no, then later told yes… then when I said before dinner those people wouldn’t be there nothing couldn’t be done I was still going to be asked to pay. Keep in mind this was only a few hours a part. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. The best part about this place is the aesthetic. It’s pretty inside, but be prepared to pay for it.
Wouldn’t do it again unless you have...
