Nashville, TN. Delicious over-priced American diner classics (weak coffee, though) in a beautiful but loud fish bowl ambiance and the service was lacking. We couldn’t hear each other without yelling because of the waterfalls. Our server, although he smiled, disappeared quite a bit so our glasses weren’t filled. He also needed reminding about what we’d ordered. He didn’t speak much so I wondered if he’d understood what we said. We ended up pointing at the menu to be sure he understood. Even then it looks like he wrote our orders down wrong. We were almost late for a concert because of him. We called him over and my friend said, “I’m sorry but we’re in a hurry; we need our bill.” He said, “Okay okay okay,” smiling, but so unprofessional. He came back with one of our checks, then he approached with the other two bills for our table, shook his head as he looked at the bills, turned and disappeared, leading me to believe there’d been a mistake on their part on the bills.
He did not keep our water glasses filled. He did not check on us. My husband asked him twice for coffee. When the coffee came it had been splashed around so the mug was dripping and tasted “like brown water,” my husband said.
The turkey bacon sandwich with fries was great, as was the tuna melt sandwich. My stepdaughter eats gluten free so she didn’t eat the bun on her Cascades Burger with fries which she ate quickly so it probably was good. My friend and I both got the fresh-tasting delicious salad with Marcona almonds, bacon and vinaigrette on the side. The vinaigrette tasted slightly of champagne.
It’s such an attractive restaurant as you approach it but it’s actually not that great of a date spot or family restaurant because it’s so loud.
We’ll try Stax or...
Read moreToday, is April 23rd 2019 & it is my birthday!! I came to eat at Cascades American Cafe in Grand Opryland Resort for the first time!! Walking into Cascades, I meet Wakeyia & asked her if breakfast was still being served ...Wakeyia said Cascades was now serving lunch.. I then asked if they had any vegetarian opinions and this beautiful woman kindly pointed them out the two they offered. Wakeyia, then went on to tell me of some other vegetarian/ vegan friendly restaurants in the area that might still be serving breakfast then told me to wait one minute while she went in the back to talk to the cook. She came back out to tell me that the cook Yashral said he would be happy to cook me a vegetarian omelet!! This literally made my day!! My boyfriend & I sat down & our server was Wael. He was also great & also very friendly & accommodating!! After we were finished with our meal he surprised me with a birthday cheesecake!!
I had the most AMAZING experience here at Cascades American Cafe!!! The food was made with such love & flavor.. Probably the best vegetarian omelet I've ever had at that .. && it was absolutely amazing to find out that the young chief who cooked my meal was also a vegetarian. The vibe & service was on point & the stafe was more than accommodating. I truly left feeling like royalty!!!
Thank you Wakeyia, Wael & Yashral for such heart warming service!! I greatly appreciate you all & will...
Read moreAfter relaxing time at spa at Gaylord decided to grab dinner at Cascade American. We were seated quickly, but due to open nature of the restaurant the music from nearby bar, steady hum of voices inside the larger space, etc did not make conversation at normal volume always easy. Our server made some suggestions and we could hear only half of what he said. Our service throughout meal was polite and attentive, not overly friendly but not rude in any way. We got the cheddar biscuits, and they were dry and almost tasteless and butter was so hard it would not spread. I got a wedge salad that was a head of lettuce chopped in half, scant amount of dressing and large thick squares of bacon that were hard to chew and suggested they were left over from breakfast buffet. I also got Nashville Hot Shrimp…soggy, tasteless with aioli that could have been mayonnaise. The redemption was the sweet pickles if eaten with the shrimp because you got some flavor, and I don’t like sweet pickles. Not an inexpensive meal and absolutely disappointing considering much better food we’ve had in other restaurants at Gaylord. Someone should have caught this food before it left the kitchen as it left a bad taste in our mouths regarding eating...
