Our experience was horrendous. We bought a package through Dance the world in Nashville. My daughter is a competitive dancer, and she had a once in a lifetime opportunity to dance on stage at the grand ole Opry. She was also able to dance in front of the Bridgestone Arena. Everything pertaining to Dance the world was perfect. The hotel was not. The staff that checked us in was very nice. As far as any other staff that I came across in the hotel, they were not helpful. They could not speak English. The app that we downloaded to use the map of the hotel was not working. Our elevators stopped working, and my daughter was already scared of elevators so that happening just put it over the edge. They refused to allow us to use the stairs by our elevator because they were behind a staff only door. We were made to go a quarter mile across the hotel use the escalator. Walk another quarter mile to get To the stairs on the second floor. We went up between 4-6 flights every time. Then had to proceed to walk almost a mile around the hotel to get to our side where our rooms were. The final straw on the elevators was when my daughter had to go perform on stage at the grand old Opry and we had a meeting time in the Delta portico. The elevators would not move. The doors would not close. We were forced to use the stairs on the fifth floor. We went all the way to the first. When We open the door we explained to the employee where we needed to And asked him how to get there. He sent us the wrong way to the complete other side of the hotel. Again, the app was not working, so the map was useless. We ended up on the wrong side so we had to go up to the second floor go completely around the hotel Just to be told by another employee that we were going the wrong way. We turned around to go the way she told us, and thankfully another family with our group was Heading that way and we were able to join them. Our last two days there were using six flights of stairs up and down. Every time someone used their shower or flushed their toilet, our entire room smelled like sewer so we had to keep our balcony door open so that we didn’t get sick. Our key card to get out of the parking lot didn’t work And neither did the help button so I had to back out turn around park and walk to find someone in valet. The young man told me to go back and press the help button and just wait. I waited over five minutes for somebody to answer. There’s no microwave in the room. The refrigerator they provide Freezes everything. It’s overpriced, terrible service, They either have not enough employees or they’re not trained. Our final morning I was very sick with a migraine. I requested a luggage cart be brought up. Once I told them that My car was not in valet. I was informed that I would be having to remove all the bags myself. Again, it’s just me and my daughter. Thank the lord I have Family that lives 10 minutes away. They were able to come and get the...
Read moreThere’s no doubt this is a unique property for people of all ages. And there’s tons of people that just rave about this place…I guess because I’ve heard so much about this place, I expected it to be better.
First off, check in took wayyy too long. We did ask if there were any other rooms available, but jeez. Problems and annoyances started from that point on.
Since it was our first visit, the male checking us in recommended switching to much bigger room that would have 1 king bed, 1 sofa bed, and 1 Murphy queen bed. And an upgrade fee would be $50 a night instead of the normal $120 difference. Sure, let’s try it. Unfortunately when we got to that room, it didn’t have a king bed, it only had a sofa bed and a bed that pulled out of the wall and then was broken on the bottom. If we sat on the bed, we would’ve immediately slid down like a slide. What a joke. I was over it, especially after walking back to my car, driving around 20 minutes to find a parking spot forever away, and then taking a 20 minute walk all the way back to the hotel. They could at least offer trams or some kind of transportation for the crazy parking situation they have going on. Lord knows they have the money for it since you have to pay a dumb parking fee. For goodness sake, just give 1 thing complimentary.
Anyway, we got switched to a different room with just two queens as we had originally booked. A bellman came to our room and got our luggage on a cart and took another looong stroll to our new room. He was obnoxiously friendly and loud and I guess he couldn’t tell we were annoyed at the situation. We even told him our bed was broken. Oh, you’re going to love it here, he insisted! After he took us to the new room, he was hinting at wanting a tip, but that was a big noooope. The new room was fine, honestly not impressive, it’s just like any other hotel room. The hotel we had stayed at the night before Opryland had a better, more modern look.
We love to travel and have been to several other water parks so I think that’s why we were a little underwhelmed by this one. The fast and slow lazy rivers were nice, but kids were constantly bumping into us. The wave pool had a cool vibe, but some of the music videos being played weren’t appropriate for young kids. After a couple hours, we had tried everything out. What I’m trying to say is I’ve paid less for a water park, even in Florida, and had a lot better experience.
The food that we tried at the resort was good, but more expensive than what we were expecting. And the vending machine prices were insane. $5 for a soda? That’s more expensive than Disney!
Overall, for the price we paid, we were hoping for a better experience. Maybe the check in experience put a damper on things. But maybe we were just annoyed because it took forever to get anywhere in this place. The property is just huge and kind of overwhelming.
We wouldn’t come back anytime...
Read moreOverall, this hotel/resort is wonderful! It’s very family-friendly, and the atrium, greenery, and scenery are absolutely breathtaking. The resort offers a water park, spa, several restaurants, and fun activities for kids—something for everyone. Like most hotels, the check in was 3-4pm and check out is 11am. I really hate that, but that seems to be hotel industry standard.
Room: We stayed in a basic, standard room for around $260/night—but after taxes, resort fees, and parking, our total came to about $370 for one night. The bed was very comfortable, especially if you like a firm mattress. The air conditioning was a bit loud, but it didn’t disrupt our sleep. The TV was great! Just a heads-up: they offer both free and paid Wi-Fi, so be sure to choose the free option when connecting. Our room was clean although I saw some trash and dishes in the hall for 2 days. My guess is they only clean once a day, but somehow our hall was missed for two days!
The $37/day parking fee was frustrating, especially considering how far the lot is from the entrances. If you don’t get a close spot, be prepared for a long walk—it felt like half a mile at times! For that price, golf cart shuttles would be a smart improvement, however they do have valet. In my opinion the cost for parking is excessive and quite frankly, a ripoff.
Also, the resort fee felt unnecessary—especially since the spa and water park still require separate payments. And unfortunately, there’s no microwave in the rooms, which is disappointing considering even budget hotels usually offer that.
Layout & Accessibility: This place is massive. Really massive. While beautiful, the layout can be confusing, and signage could definitely be improved and more staff available to direct guests. Guests with mobility issues might find it challenging to get around comfortably.
Dining: There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on-site. We had the breakfast buffet at Cascades—delicious, but a bit pricey at $39 per person. The chicken cranberry sausage was amazing, but the bacon was too hard for my taste. The highlight was the freshly squeezed orange juice and the made to order pancakes and eggs. In general, the food is good but expensive. Still, the convenience of staying on property might make it worth it.
Location: Fantastic location—5 minutes from the Grand Ole Opry, Opry Mills Outlet Mall, and several dining options. You're also only about 25 minutes from downtown Broadway Street, where you’ll find bars, live music and museums.
Final Thoughts: Even with some drawbacks (parking and resort fees and no microwave), I would definitely stay here again. The atmosphere and location make it a memorable experience—especially for families or those visiting Nashville for...
