Lilly’s Hot Chicken inside the Nashville Farmers Market is an absolute gem! I had the hot chicken at a level 3 heat and fried okra—both were amazing. The spice was the perfect amount to enhance the tender, juicy chicken without overpowering it. The okra was crispy and seasoned just right.
The portions are generous, and the prices are more than fair for the quality and quantity you get.
What really stood out to me was the service. The cashier/counter person was incredibly friendly, upbeat, and professional. He even noticed my State of Tennessee employee badge and offered me a discount without me asking—such a thoughtful touch that shows they appreciate their customers.
This wasn’t my first visit to Lilly’s, and it definitely won’t be my last. If you’re in the area and craving some top-notch hot chicken, don’t...
Read moreThey are not playing around with the spice levels here. It’s significantly hotter than Prince’s, Bolton’s, or any of the others. I chose the Hot Dam level for my tenders, the fourth level of spiciness, and it burnt me down! I couldn’t stop sweating. And there’s still one level hotter at Lilly’s called Fear Da Reaper. Hell to the no. Anyway, the chicken was cooked perfectly. As far as the taste of the spices on it, I think Prince’s, Bolton’s and Hattie B’s are better. The slaw was truly terrible, but the greens were not bad. However, I’m giving this place five stars because of the outstanding friendly customer service. The girl at the front counter was very sweet and helpful and, overall, I just generally love almost any...
Read moreI tried Lilly’s for the first time today. My selection was the Fried Chicken Sandwich, “spicy” level heat. The flavor was outstanding — the heat was perfect — but the meat was fairly chewy. When I go back, I’m going to try the bone-in fried chicken, which I suspect will be better.
The service was fine, but on the slow side (about 15 minutes to get the food). This may be because I ordered at about 12:15, so the lunch crowd may have depleted what they had readily available.
Because Lilly’s is located in a stall at the farmers market, atmosphere isn’t really their thing.
Overall, I think they are very good, and I’m looking forward to going back next time I’m there...
