Our food was excellent—we frequently visit this location and typically have great experience with all staff. Today was extremely disappointing. The woman at the hostess stand didn’t greet us or look at us, but asked how many. We explained that the rest of our party would be there in about 20 minutes, but that we would have 6. Without saying anything, they went to set up our table and returned and offered for my husband and I to go ahead and sit if we wanted to. We agreed and I told them we could go ahead and order drinks if needed as I know full parties not being present can cause issues and risk putting a waiter with us for too long and miss on tips. We were met with attitude from our waiter as well and he didn’t give us an opportunity to order drinks and appetizers to get our table going before the rest of our party arrived. Throughout our meal, we felt dismissed and like we were causing an issue if we requested something, even just ordering our meals. The waiter wasn’t attentive to what we ordered as 4/6 of us ended up with sides we didn’t order and also didn’t receive a lobster tail that was requested. We had a free appetizer coupon (again, treated as if that was an inconvenience to them), but then were told it was expired when it clearly stated it expired after today. The waiter asked the manager on site and he just nodded and said “okay” with a face like “just give them what they want to get them out of here”. In our world, the coupon was good. If it wasn’t, tell us why and we would have happily moved on and paid for it. Not a huge deal. My family has been in the restaurant business and we are extremely sensitive to the problems that can arise from the simplest of requests from a customer. It’s a hard business to be in, no doubt. But the attitude from every staff member we interacted with today was dumbfounding. It was nothing short of acting distasteful with our presence. I notice that there are a lot of negative reviews from the past couple months and I wonder if there has been a shift and this might be growing pains. I hope that is the case. But please don’t make your customers feel unwelcome or like they are a bother just for walking through the door. My family was getting together to have lunch for my father’s birthday and this wasn’t the experience we had hoped for. Again, hopefully just some changes that have recently been made as we typically love coming to this location. We will try again...
Read moreThe hostess greeting me was stoic and had the demeanor of someone going to a funeral. The menu and wrapped silverware was haphazardly thown on the table as she walked away. Now maybe she just had a bad day, I don't know what is going on in her life, but she may be best suited for the back of the house instead of working with the public.
My waiter Daniel was a rock star, professional and attentive, even though he was working under fire, as the restaurant was short staffed due to several employees unable to get to work, as they were impacted by the recent storm/tornado that ripped through Tennessee. If I could give Daniel 6 stars, he would have earned them.
Had a filet mignon which was cooked perfectly to temperature (medium rare) and had good flavor. My two comments about the food that caused a 4 star rating are: the filet mignon was too thin, I feel that a filet mignon should be a minimum of 1 1/2 inches thich, this was scarcely 3/4 of an inch thick. Second, the plate presentation was certainly lack luster. A stake and a bake potato on one white plate, steamed asparagus on a side white plate, all with no garnish. Having said all that the food was good, but the lack of proper thickness and plate presentation cost them a star.
The dining room was clean, beautiful and comfortable. The men's room was another story, with three missing 12" x 12" tiles missing off the wall, missing drain scree, so you were looking at a hole in the floor. A restroom I've come to expect in a bad gas station or a third world country. I asked to speak to a manager and told her honestly about how much I enjoyed the food and especially Daniel's service, and pointed out the short falls as well. The manager Megan was gracious and a consummate food & beverage professional that is also worthy of 6 starts.
While my visit was not perfect, I try to be honest and fair and not sugar coat the truth. Overall I'd give this restaurant 5 stars and will be dining there again.
One last note, this is a Darden restaurant, and I think it would be a class act on Darren's part to give $500 to all the employees that were impacted by the storm/tornado in Tennessee. This would be like a cup of coffee to Darden, but it could make a profound difference in the lives of the employees that work so...
Read moreThe food was great! The service was the worst I have seen in many years. When you pay $170.00 for a table of five to eat dinner you have the right to expect service. Our waitress never once smiled. She never once came back to the table to ask if we wanted beverage refills. As they brought the appetizers, drinks, food, desserts etc.. they never once cleared any of the finished dishes. By the time dessert came we had to ask to have some of the appetizer and entree dishes cleared, though they were clearly empty and done and the table was invisible under all the dishes. This dinner was a birthday celebration for one of the guests. We asked an employee if he could take a photo of everyone at the table for us using one of our cameras. He told us he was busy up front and did not have the time to snap the photo. Also, Longhorn has a birthday sundae that is provided for birthday guests. After letting the server know several times it was this woman's birthday to no avail, the birthday woman herself finally had to ASK for her birthday sundae which took 20 minutes for her to bring after we made the request. We had the check divided with two of us on one check and the birthday guest and her adult children on the other. One of the guests filled out the survey about our horrible experience and was sent a gift card (for a portion of the total bill) , but the two young people, 18 and 23 who had saved their money to take their mom out for her birthday dinner, were not compensated at all. They too filled out the survey but got no response. While I commend the managing partner for responding to the one complaint, she ignored the concerns of two young adults who had saved their money and paid $116 for the three of them to celebrate their mom's birthday. The server bordered on rude the entire evening. We asked her twice for crayons because we also had a small child with us. She never brought them, but when we asked a passing employee for some, that person brought them immediately. This server should not be on the floor when it is so obvious how she feels about her job. This was a horrible experience for everyone involved and I would not recommend this...
