Stopped by for a margherita opening week. More importantly, I've found them to be run by inexperienced management which results in them being terrible Germantown neighbors.
I've lived in the building they opened in, Starling Germantown, for 9 months, where we have hundreds of tenants sharing the same trash room they now use. It's adjacent to my building entrance which many of us use 4-5 times a day. The week they opened, it began stinking to high heaven. As apartment tenants we have strict rules about our trash packaging, and even get fined if not done properly, so it has never been a problem, even in the warm months, until Social Cantina started dumping their trash there. The stench is of sour, rotting food, stomach-turning and sickening. Not exactly a taste or smell you want associated with your new restaurant brand, I'm guessing.
I stopped by last week to chat with the manager on duty, whose response was "What do you suggest? Trash stinks". I let him know it hasn't been a problem till they showed up, to hopefully drive home we're doing it correctly, so they can too. I gave him a few suggestions about double-bagging, tying the trash bags tightly, and monitoring the situation and retraining when necessary.
Here's another suggestion Social Cantina - How about using the garbage disposal for food waste, or composting it? Whatever you're doing, it isn't working. It's still a problem. History didn't start the day you rolled into our building. We've been able to figure out responsible trash disposal long before you showed up, and no, it's not my job to figure this out for you. A more appropriate response would have been "Wow, that doesn't sound good, and we'd love to have you as a regular customer. Let me talk to my leadership about how we do that in our other locations." (You're a national conglomerate with five restaurant brands).
As a consequence, I can't imagine ever eating there or sending friends. This is the attitude a large national chain with cute marketing and Instagram feeds, not local, friendly Nashville vibes. I've checked in with a few neighbors and they noticed the new stench too. If they can't handle their trash, how are they handling their food prep? Bad vibes, Bad stench, Bad attitude. Ants and roaches can't...
Read moreI wasn't going to write a review, but an old VP told me that feedback is a gift. I saw in advertisements that you all run taco specials on Tuesday. I live in East Nashville and decided to check out your establishment. The decor is great, and the food is good as well. Unfortunately, the service was so bad that I do not plan on going back.
There were three main issues that I had. Slow Service - There were about 10 people in the bar, and it felt like it took forever to get acknowledged. I don't like to use the word felt, but I don't have a specific time for how long things took because I didn't think I would have to worry about long wait times, since the bar was not packed. Attention to details - This may be small, but I don't understand how this was missed. My food came out, and the bartender never gave me napkins. It took her so long that I had to get up and get napkins myself. If someone was actually engaging me, this would not have been an issue. I also like to be able to clean my hands while I am eating tacos, so I don't think getting napkins when my food comes out is too much to ask for. She also put a drink that was not mine on my receipt. She was not paying much attention to me, so I was annoyed but not surprised. Feeling unwanted in a space - When I noticed the issue with the check, I tried to get the bartender's attention, and she walked by me multiple times in a way to avoid eye contact.
I invited a friend out and just wanted to have tacos in peace. I have added information below so you can look up my ticket. If you have any questions, let me know.

Read moreMet for brunch on a Saturday - the place was not busy at all. My first impression was the decor was great however within seconds of walking in my shoes stuck to the floor. When we met our group that was already seated they mentioned that the table was also not clean and sticky. Cleanliness - not good Food - mediocre Service - ok Ambience - great decor but the club music on a Saturday was a bit much Of the six of us - three out of six said their food was average. Unfortunately, one plate came out with a hair on it which was noticed as the plate was being placed on the table. We immediately told the server and she brought a replacement dish. At the end of our meal the manager came over to offer an underhanded apology and a 10% discount. She insinuated that the hair was one of ours. Her exact words "everyone in my kitchen is African American or she stated "that it is possibly from one of the birds nests that are nesting on the patio." WTH are you kidding me- the hair clearly came from one of the staff members. I am all about giving new places a second chance but because of the way this situation was handled I won't be back. There are too many other Mexican restaurants that are...
