An art museum/hotel? Sounds amazing and in some ways it is. On the service side however, this hotel is severely lacking. This past weekend, I rented two suites for a girls weekend. The website says both suites can accommodate three people. When we arrived, both had a king size bed but that was it. When I asked the front desk for roll aways, they said they might be able to get us two (one for each suite). When I asked what they would do if they couldn’t get the rollaways; the gentleman at the front desk immediately got defensive and explained there was a couch. Mind you, a couch without a pullout. A couch is not a place to sleep when you are paying $500/night. This is supposed to be a nice hotel, not a college dorm. As luck would have it, one of our suites did get a rollaway, the other did not so we were forced to have a guest sleep on the couch. So be warned, the suites are really not for 3 people despite what they advertise.
Beyond the sleeping arrangement issues, our “deluxe suite”, 721, was far from deluxe. On the first evening, we couldn’t turn off a bright light that is located in the headboard. We called the front desk multiple times but they never sent someone up and stopped answering calls from our room. Finally, one of our guests had to go down in her pajamas to request assistance. Someone came up and couldn’t figure it out. After several minutes of saying the switches weren’t working, she wound up ripping a bunch of wires out of the wall which did turn off the light but also killed power to other lamps in the suite. The next day when we were out to dinner (17 hours after the incident) we got a call from the front desk saying they just heard about the issue and asked if we wanted an engineer to go up. We said we would just deal with it when we got back. Sure enough, when we got back, the front desk said they had no record of that issue. When we got to the room, there was a note and cookies from the lady who had attempted to assist us the night before. Wait, what? Does anyone in this place talk to one another? On the day, we were checking out, an engineer finally came up.
Also strange but true - the toilet in 721 has boiling hot water in it. When we told the front desk that it was rather alarming and they might need some plumbing help, the gentleman seemed horrified, but took no action (the same gentleman as the day before we were told our third guest could take the couch). As we were leaving, we told the bellhop about our struggles and he said the entire 21 row of rooms has issues. A known problem - yet they still fill those rooms with guests.
The highlight of this place is Greg. He has great energy and is really helpful. Too bad the rest of the staff didn’t share his warmth or good attitude.
In short, cool art but you can stay elsewhere and go visit the...
Read moreWorst stay ever. We stayed there for my wife's birthday on August 2nd. This use to be a favorite hotel of ours when it was 21c Museum Hotel. Now it is owned by Hilton. Which we thought was cool because we are honor reward members there. We are also Nashville citizens.
When we were booking the room there was an option to upgrade to a terrace room from a standard room for s discounted rate for rewards members. So we did the upgrade because that is the type room we wanted in the first place.
When we checked in we were informed that our upgrade would not be completed because they were fully booked. Judging by the lack of people in the hotel, that must have been a flat out lie. But oh well. We stayed anyway.
We go up to our room to wait on our 3 guests that were going out to celebrate with us. All males. They were all arriving seperately. So i had to go downstairs each time one arrived to let them in because you have to have a key card to ride the elevator. That is when it gets crazy.
After the last one arrived there was a knock at the front door. It was the front desk attendant saying the fire alarm was going off in the room. I opened the door fully so he could see and smell there was no fire or smoke in the room. I asked if he would like to come in and check for himself and he told me no, security would have to come do a room check. So we wait and wait. Finally I call the front desk and asked when they were coming. He said they would be right up. We almost just left because they were taking so long.
About 30 minutes later we get a knock at the door. I open it to find about 10 Metro Police in uniform. They stated they were there for a wellness check. I said thats wild because they told me the fire alarm was going off. So I let one come in the room and check it out. He saw everything was fine and left.
As we go through the lobby to leave and go out i stopped to ask the front desk attendant if we were good. He proceeded to tell me that security had called the police due to too much use of the keycard that i had to use to go down and bring our friends up. Which is crazy. Who knew there was a limit to how much you can use your keycard when it is required to ride the elevator.
Basicly it seemed as though we were profiled as either drug dealers / users or for prostitution. Which neither could be further from the truth. We were humiliated and embarassed in front of our friends. It was a very degrading experience. And a crappy way to be treated when celebrating your wife's birthday. And not to mention what we spent on the room.
Long story short. Do not waste your time booking here. There are many more nice hotels in our beautiful city that won't treat their customers like criminals. i hope this helps anyone looking for a place to stay or if you are on the fence about...

Summary: I'm giving it two stars instead of one only because the employees, specifically Patrick and DiAngelo with their excellent service, converted our experience from intolerable to merely not great for the price. Stay here if you want to pay a lot of money for a mediocre hotel in a great Nashville location.
Details: There was no cart at the valet parking dropoff, we had to carry everything, and he asked for our cell number and said we'd get a link to click to get our car but we never did.
Room 802 has an intolerable repetitive low bass throbbing noise/vibration, possibly related to machinery just above its ceiling. This room is not suitable for human habitation, avoid this room at all costs. Less dire but not also not good, there is no window, and a beverage cooler that doesn't cool. The beds and bathroom were very nice though, and they brought us a mini fridge.
The phones didn't work right, causing disconnections and problems hearing, which front desk said were common.
We got moved to a room which was much better (thank you Patrick and DiAngelo!), had a nice window, no noise (other than construction outside but that's not the hotel's fault), but it was still kind of crappy in some ways: the outlets on the bedside table didn't work until we removed a hidden access panel in the wall and plugged in the AC connections, the towel rack in the bathroom was falling off, the flooring threshold in the bathroom door was like an inch high and easy to stub a toe on, the coffee maker didn't work right, we had to rerun it like five times each time to get a cup of coffee. The coffee was good when it did work though.
The location is fantastic, within easy walking distance to lots of great stuff.
Finally, after visiting front desk and supposedly getting the valet text message link straightened out, I discovered after it was too late that the link I finally got only allowed me to leave a tip for the valet, not request my vehicle. I left a tip before discovering this, and had to go to the front desk to request my vehicle anyway. It was ridiculous, and too late to take back the tip, although I know it's not the valet guys' fault, it's still a bad experience that I don't appreciate being tricked into...
