Very long but worth the details. Terrible and disappointing experience. Instead of going with a chain hotel, I decided to go with a boutique hotel this time since it was a surprise trip for my wife's birthday. I paid upfront on booking.com. I read details prior to booking but didnt click on policy to see fine peint about $75 damage fee they charge you at check in. I got there Friday night and was welcomed by Chris whose a bartender. He told Rena I was there to check in even though she saw me standing there at the check in line. Rena was very nasty and unprofessional. Im a kind hearted person and didnt deserve to be treated differently than others. She didn't speak, and I knew instantly that her energy was off. She asked me my name. Fast forward, I never knew I would have to pay a $150 refundable security deposit. I swiped my card and even tho it said approved, I got a message from my bank as if it declined. I asked her to check on her end. She said it went thru. As we're coming to the end she said my transaction was declined. So I said okay no problem, and swiped again. As I walked to my car, I checked my account. It took $300! Meaning it went thru both times!! I turned around and told her it charged me twice. She said ok I can fix it for you, but then quickly said I actually can't, I will get someone to do it for you and walked off. I went to the car to go park around the back in the garage. I needed a luggage cart and couldn't find one. I went to the lobby and asked her, she tells Chris to answer my question as if she couldn't when its her job. Chris tried telling me where it usually is and she interrupted saying just check each floor. I searched and searched, no cart. This hotel only has 1 cart. I end up making several trips to my car. Mind you we had two large doodle dogs, 2 XL kennels, 2 carry on luggage's, one gym bag. My wife didnt understand why I couldnt be refunded for overcharge like any other hotel would do. So after we unloaded we went back downstairs to see if she got somebody to help. Rena walks away from the desk when we approached the desk. She told another lady who was not a host to help us and she walked from the back standing there rolling her eyes and had her arms folded while we spoke with the lady. Then the young lady or Rena went and got a manager by the name Jordan who was super nice, but not very helpful. Evan came out and introduced himself as the manager as well and gave me a business card. He said it was a mistake on Rena end and he apologized and said if we have any other issues to give him a call. Chris offered us a complementary drink for the inconvenience. Whoever the young lady was that didnt ignore us standing there was very understanding and wished she could help. Jordan gave us a ticket for rooftop complementary drinks. Very grateful for the gedtures however it doesnt fix the situation and I feel we couldve been handled differently. They also told me to call my bank while standing there because usually the bank can reverse it. I knew this was a lie but I called. The bank said I have to dispute it! The sink was severely clogged and disgusting. The room is small but very nice. I saw a review about getting charged parking and wifi. I looked at my receipt and they didn't refund me my full $150. It's only $109 because they do charge you $16 a day for wifi/parking. Be mindful of that. During checkout the lady was very nice. She asked me how was my experience. I was honest. She refunded my pet fee and told me Rena's name. There is nowhere on the property for pets to potty. Check my photo, that's what they offer...2 strips of grass. We walked them across the street in the field. No fridge or microwave. The bed was uncomfortable. I had to go to the lobby and ask for ice. I guess hotels are getting away from amenities. But charge you for wifi and parking and call it "amenity fee." The hotel is esthetically beautiful. Rooftop is amazing. All Day Cafe is nice but we didnt eat at the hotel. Great location. 8-10 mins...
Read moreMy husband and I had the HONOR of being the first wedding held entirely at Tall Tales, the rooftop at Waymore's. It was an absolute dream. I can't recommend them enough.
We live in East Nashville and loved the idea of being able to have our wedding near home. From the very first time we stepped foot into the hotel, we knew it was right, especially since their dog-friendly space means our dog/daughter Ruthie got to be included in everything!!!
As for the space, I truly believe this is the best event venue in Nashville. I am almost hesitant to let the secret of Waymore's out in case they realize they should be charging double. The rooftop is already breathtakingly beautiful--even better in person, trust me--so we only needed to decorate the tables, making both planning and set up easy. With zero extra effort or dollars, I had lush florals and the ENTIRE SKYLINE as my ceremony backdrop. And the view made the space feel almost like two different venues: a beautiful garden during the ceremony and dinner, followed by the skyline and city lights for dancing after dark.
Hotel staff set up the tables exactly as we wanted them and even did the tear down for us. All all table linens, napkins, tables, chairs, plates, silverware, and glassware were included, and they did all the food (which was amazing and exceeded all my expectations), drinks (ditto), and snacks too. They even cut and plated the cake. Quite literally, the ONLY wedding planning I had to do was send out invitations, buy clothes, book a DJ and photographer, get table decorations, and tell Waymore's what I wanted. It was so easy and un-stressful, my biggest wedding worry became that I hadn't done enough. But on the day of, everything came out exactly as beautiful as I had imagined, and we and our guests had an amazing time.
As for the hotel, the rooms are comfortable, beautiful, and while not the cheapest, a good value over all. They worked with our mostly-out-of-town guests to get exactly the rooms they needed. Did I mention they hosted our night-before wedding reception too, roping off part of their gorgeous lobby for us and providing incredible signature drinks and snacks? In planning, I was worried it would be weird to have everything in one place, but afterward, I have no regrets whatsoever.
Finally, Waymore's event planner Jordan Perry is truly one of the most thoughtful, warmest, friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He answered all of my questions (there were many), was incredible solicitous throughout the process, and even acted as our de-facto wedding planner on the day of, running our timeline, keeping things on track, and even making us plates of food! All of our guests also had wonderful things to say about him. I honestly don't know what we would have done without him. He is truly a gem of a human. I would take a bullet for this man.
In the end, the price of EVERYTHING ended up being about half of what another rooftop venue quoted me as the starting price for reserving the space alone. In fact, it was less than the venue-only price of most venues in Nashville. And it was absolutely better. We did have a couple of timing-related hiccups on the day-of, so my only word of caution to event-holders and advice to the venue would be to be sure to communicate very clearly about times. But that doesn't change that I would hold every event here if I could. And I love that we can go back and visit the place we got married whenever we want, which you can't do with a typical wedding venue.
This is so long, and I have so much more to say. But it boils down to this: It's perfect. Do it. And...
Read moreOur experience at Waymores was a massive miss, and I’m gathering that this is a regular occurrence. We arrived at 4 to check in and got the sense immediately that something was off when the person at the check in struggled to “find the reservation.” Finally they located it and informed us it would be about 15 minutes and that we could have a seat in the lobby. Kind of weird, we thought, but no big deal. Then the wait got longer and longer and we were thinking “Ok, they could have at least offered us a drink from the full bar right behind them while we sit here.”
After about 30 minutes of waiting, we went back to the counter to ask if the room was ready now. That’s when we were informed that the hotel was overbooked and we did not actually have a room. I’m not sure when they were planning to share that news with us because from the ensuing exchange, it became clear that they knew this from the minute we tried to first check in.
In the conversation that followed, the front desk person tried to explain away their mistake by repeatedly starting each sentence with “Since you booked third party…” as if I had done something illicit. Big gaslighting energy. I booked the room using credit card miles through my credit card company which I have done before and not had issues with.
Dude, just own up to the fact that something is effed up with YOUR system and apologize instead of gaslighting me into thinking I had done something wrong. It was not the right way to handle the situation at all. We had to scramble to find a different hotel and missed a dinner reservation in the process.
Did we feel “trendy” staying at the Comfort Inn instead? Nope, not at all. But the bed was super comfy and we got free breakfast along with a normal, functional check-in process. Other reviews have echoed this same experience so this was not a one off thing. Save yourself the trouble and find...
