We arrived on a weekday at 10am. I immediately felt like a Hobbit ready for “second breakfast”. Though the outdoor seating in the courtyard looked inviting, we opted to dine inside.
Inside was bigger than it appeared from the courtyard, with booths and tables available. Woodsy decor and art were everywhere, making it feel both bohemian and quaint.
With a large menu of upscale takes on comfort classics, we ordered:
🥔 The Scrap Pile 🥓 Bacon Gravy Over Roasted Potatoes with a side of Bacon 🧇 Hummingbird Waffle Stack 🍳 Little Bird Breakfast
The Scrap Pile was a one-bowl breakfast and their most popular dish. The standout was the ham, being wonderfully smoky and tender. The biscuits were a bit boring and felt like filler.
I love home fries and roasted potatoes for breakfast and these were great. The Bacon Gravy was on the lighter side (seriously) and had a nice peppered taste. If anything was lacking, adding Bacon Gravy made it better.
The Hummingbird Waffle Stack surprised me. With an oatmeal-like consistency, I thought the pineapple ricotta spread and banana cream sauce was going to be an odd combination. But it worked! In fact, the longer I chewed the more I liked it. The waffle was crispy, the candied pecans were nutty and sweet. My apologies to its creator for pre-judging. 🙏
The Little Bird Breakfast came with bacon, and they nailed the cooking method. It was thick and hearty with a soft bite but kept its shape when picked up. Flavor was on point too.
If you are looking for vegan or vegetarian options you’ll find several on the menu— and they are clearly marked. Lunch, dinner, and drink options also looked curiously delicious. A second visit is definitely in order.
The only hiccup we encountered was the unavailability of several items— two of which were what I had planned to order. I’m guessing they sold lots of French toast and quiche over the weekend. Thankfully our server made us aware prior to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bird's Nest Cafe in Nashville, IN, and I must say it was an incredible find. Nestled in the heart of the town, this converted old home turned restaurant exudes charm and character.
One of the highlights of my visit was the impressive selection of drinks. I started off with their Bloody Mary, which was a perfect balance of flavors. The artisan cola also caught my attention, and it did not disappoint. The drinks were meticulously crafted and incredibly refreshing.
For appetizers, I couldn't resist trying their fried green tomatoes. They were crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside. The combination of the tangy tomatoes and the perfectly seasoned breading was a true delight.
Moving on to the main course, I opted for the turkey and avocado sandwich, while my companion decided to try the Bloody Mary burger. Both dishes exceeded our expectations. The turkey and avocado sandwich was packed with fresh ingredients and had a delightful combination of textures. The Bloody Mary burger was juicy and flavorful, with a unique twist that made it stand out from other burgers.
The service at Bird's Nest Cafe was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to accommodate any requests. Despite the bustling atmosphere, our food arrived promptly, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely lunch without feeling rushed.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Nashville, IN, I highly recommend paying a visit to Bird's Nest Cafe. With its cozy ambiance, delectable food, and impeccable service, it is a true gem that should not be missed. Read moreA very quaint, peaceful setting, with tables in the garden. We were seated at a booth, inside. My friend asked if they have Coke or Pepsi products and was directed to the soft drinks on the menu. They offer craft like beverages, however the beverage name, lack of description or the waitress, provided no insight as to what you are getting; nothing hinted at 'cola'. While waiting on our order, we noticed small ants on the table, numerous ants. We decided we didn't want to stay. As we stood up to leave, we got the waitress' attention and informed her. She simply replied "yes, they come in from outside, through the wall. Your food is only minutes away, do you want it to go?" We had no place to eat it, so we decided to stay, moved to a table. Well... our food didn't come anytime soon; the wait was suspiciously long, for quiche that was supposedly already made and poached eggs. During our wait, others came in, were told to " sit wherever"; when someone chose that booth, she didn't bat an eye (smh). Before heading out, my friend made use of the restroom. You walk through the kitchen to get to IT. Apparently it wasn't sparkling clean; I was told not to use it :( In summary: the poached eggs where ok, the quiche was lacking something. I can't in good conscience recommend this place after only 1 visit and I don't see...
