Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in New Albany

My wife and I was there for 25 minutes. There was a married couple with their children in front of us. The manager, Kaitlin, came out and asked for patience while lettuce was cut. Why couldn't the other 5 employees do anything? The couple in front of us couldn't believe what was happening right before our eyes!! After they left an employee took our order. My wife's sandwich was made fairly quick. Then after making SEVERAL more sandwiches they started on mine. I asked " You're just now starting my sandwich?", and Kaitlin replied that mobile orders go first, even though my order was placed first. Then my sandwich was being prepared wrong. I told them and I was ignored. After repeating myself TWICE, Kaitlin gave me a rude reply. The cheesesteak was overcooked and tough. We left and I looked up Jersey Mike's website. The complaint process is ridiculous! So I called the store and spoke with Kaitlin. I asked for a district manager's phone number and she gave me a bogus number. I tried to call Kaitlin back but she has the phone off. I called another store and they verified that the New Albany location is poorly run. BTW, the floor was filthy on both sides of the counter, as was the prep table. I will say that I do not believe the owner is aware of these ongoing issues. I also spoke with a former employee of this store who quit because of Kaitlin being rude to customers and lax on service and cleanliness. Update: The owner made everything right. Great, friendly staff. Seemed knowledgeable about my gluten issues. They prepared me a gluten-free Philly cheese steak with grilled portobello mushrooms. Phenomenal sandwich! My wife said her turkey and provolone was good, too. Impressed how the workers greeted and treated everyone...so friendly, and they know their products. Heard them answer many questions, and they were always very polite and kind. I did not catch the name of the gentleman who was working, but he had an awesome, nearly infectious laugh that made you feel like you were with friends. He also commended us on using the online order prior to arrival in order to speed the process along. Subs were ready at the time promised and were 100% as ordered. Clean bathrooms. Try the Strange Soda Rootbeer. If you love rootbeer, you will not be disappointed by this one! It has a great, smooth flavor and just the right amount of carbonation. I will definitely make this location a stop when travelling to...

Ok - I've read the bad reviews. First: Italy doesn't like how Americans do Italian, Philly doesn't like how Jersey does Philly ... it isn't Italy Mike's or Philly Mike's. Second: Sandwiches get soggy by not eating them right away. Sandwiches are made right in front of the patron here. Can't fault the restaurant for that. Third: I didn't see a single regular sandwich anywhere NEAR $16. My regular sandwich was $6, my husband's was $7. And a regular sandwich is about 10" long. Cut in half, it EASILY makes 2 normal-sized sandwiches. As for service: It was busy, and we had our food fairly quickly. The young lady at the cash register was pleasant and friendly! I saw no one who wasn't working as he/she should. Finally: Bread is FAR better than Subway's! Crispy and moist; plus, a giant is MUCH bigger than a full-sized Subway sandwich. Ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Add the pepper relish!! You'll thank me....
