We had breakfast here this morning. I really wanted to like this place and to recommend it to people, but two things really stood out for why I’m not recommending.
The first was what feels like compromising quality for convenience in the kitchen. I ordered the Kentuckiana Benedict, and it’s genuinely delicious. But, the menu says it’s a dish topped with hand breaded chicken. It was not topped but rather had two chicken tenders crossed in the center of the plate - the exact same chicken tenders that came with the kid’s meal. A breaded chicken thigh or breast cutlet on top of the biscuit would have elevated the dish from a standard frozen tender and would be more honest to what the menu says is the dish. Or just say the ‘hand breaded chicken’ is a chicken tender. As is, I felt mislead ordering my meal.
The second is that when asked if we wanted creamer with our coffee, we said yes and were given a few options. We didn’t realize that our $3.50 coffee would come with a $0.75 upcharge to add flavored creamer (which I would bet is Coffee Mate). Now, the menu does call out the creamer upcharge, but I honestly can’t tell you the last time I looked at a menu to order coffee with breakfast. The creamer upcharge feels misleading and penny pinching.
In general, the positives are good service, clean tables, nice decor, and tasty food. The negatives are uncomfortable chairs, high prices relative to the content and size of your portion, and practically zero ‘healthy’ options for sides.
We’ll probably give this place another chance in a few months, but it was really disappointing to leave and not sing SRMK’s...
Read moreThought we would try this after having tried other well-known breakfast restaurants like Toast, Wild Eggs and First Watch. This restaurant did not compare to them and was much worse. I had the "hangry" platter. I was so excited to try the thick-sliced bacon, but it turned out to be chewy and tasteless. My hash browns tasted like they came out of a a bag and the French toast was one piece made using a regular sized bread that looked like what I could make at home. I expected more; I expected french toast that was above and beyond what I could make at home. In fact, we both expected that for my whole meal, but for roughly $20, we could have exceeded this meal at home and with way more flavor. The food was edible, but nothing special. We will not be back. The coffee was great, as was our "awesome" server, Allie who asked us for a "fun fact" and was not only a great server, but had a great personality.
*After reading other reviews and seeing pictures of everyone else's food, we think the cook or someone didn't show up on Sunday, 6/25, around 8 a.m. Seriously, we saw pictures posted here from other reviews of the Hangry Platter that I ordered and the meal my fiancé ordered, the Corned Beef Hash and ours looked nothing like the posted pictures. In retrospect, we wish we had taken a picture of ours...
Read moreWent here for breakfast. We got to the restaurant around 8:00 am and there was no wait, so we were immediately seated. Great ambience, nice service, good food! Price range is mid-level, comparable to other breakfast/brunch places in the area. Dishes were about $12-16.
My husband ordered the hangry platter-- it's their take on the usual breakfast platter (eggs, bacon and toast). It came with Belgian waffles which we loved. The strawberry syrup that came with the waffles satisfied our sweet tooth. The waffles are also perfectly cooked-- crisp on the edges but soft and tasty on the inside. I recommend getting the waffles as your side.
I ordered their early bird hash skillet, which is loaded with carefully cut roasted vegetables and smothered with cream sauce. I like the portions of the dish-- the amount of potato hash did not feel overwhelming, the vegetables were well cooked and roasted, and the cream sauce did not drown the whole dish and overpower the other components.
For our beverage, I ordered the cappuccino and husband got the cold brew. Cappuccino was very good. For $4, I'd order it again. Husband ordered the cold brew for $6.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would probably go back and try other food...
