I want to talk about my experience in Belk yesterday. My daughter, who just had a baby, ran into one of the rudest sales associates EVER. Her name was Pamela. She was in the Misses/Jr's section. We were in Belk, w/a new born, and I had left my daughter in the store while I went out to feed the baby. She went to check out (with her printed coupon 15% off without a Belk card) and a $100 gift card from her grandmother. I had given her my debit card for any remaining balance. So, when the items came up to $128 and change, she (after Pam rudely dismissed the coupon, saying it could NOT be combined with a gift card...) was told she could NOT use my debit card with a GIFT card!! So, isn't a gift card supposed to be like cash? Is she supposed to spend exactly $100 to the penny?? All of this, with a new mother, who is already emotional I didn't know who I was angrier with, myself for leaving my girl to this rude, pretentious, sales clerk, or the perpetrator herself. If the baby had been cooperating, I would've talked to management. I worked in the MHC location a few years ago, and NONE of the associates had this 'holier than thou' attitude. I spend thousands of dollars at Belk each year, and I assure you, during this holiday season, I WILL be taking my business to MHC. Pamela should be retrained. It's supposed to be customer service!!! Sadly, I've heard others' make the same complaint about this locale. I just hope more people come forward...
Read moreCustomer service / checkout staff was MINIMUM so all were all overwhelmed and one in particular in the Men’s Suit and shoes area very RUDELY announced at 3:40pm while she was checking one customer out “I am leaving at 4pm and will be closing my register so all of you will need to go to another register!” as 4 other customers and I had been waiting in her line for our turn for 15mins or more each!!! Understand that everyone has a time to get off work but if you are a customer facing associate than you don’t speak to customers so ignorantly and also don’t just leave them waiting only to close your register, you let them know before the stand in line POLITELY that they need to go to another register as you will be closing before you will be able to serve them OR you call a manager or another associate over prior to closing to assist the waiting line of customers whom are paying all their paychecks. This is an issue (lack of service overall) at this Belks location EVERY TIME I have been in the store. More than once my wife and I have left our purchases and just ordered same products on Amazon that day due to waiting to check out for 20-30mins or more. Management needs to get it together or Belk will just...
Read moreWent to Belk to do some Christmas shopping and like the time before this outing the store is grossly understaffed. On the particular evening I was Christmas shopping there were only two employees running cash registers! Both of the ladies were helpful and friendly and were a pleasure to chat with. The store was in a total mess but with only two ladies working the registers there wasn't anyone to straighten the store up. The boys dept is a total joke as it's tiny and doesn't have much to offer. If they don't change the direction the store is going on I don't expect them to be around...
