Love their fajitas usually me,my husband and our two boys mind you they are young and don't eat a lot we all get the fajitas for two and share them I think fajitas for one would be enough but sometimes they eat more than other times. The beef is the best it's so tender, the chicken is just standard what you would get anywhere else but I'm not kidding when I say the beef is tender. They have amazing salsa if you like Cilantro. The queso is also great but be prepared no matter what we ask for whether we say cheese sauce or queso there are no peppers or tomatoes in it, it's just plain cheese nothing else but it's very thin and good and doesn't harden fast like velveeta. They have quite a few things I liked but we still go back to our favorite. I would say most of the time the service is pretty good. I found while last girl waited on us was very sweet she was pretty slow and forgetful I try to remember she could have been new or something when judging servers. I think I like the restaurants atmosphere okay however they do have a few tables in the middle that are pretty small and way too small for a family i would only use them as a couples table, however just my opinion others may feel different about it. Anyhow my overall conclusion is I like this restaurant a lot I will keep coming back like I have been. it's best Mexican in new braunfels. I do have one con and its not really for me it's for my husband and kids they hate the internet know sounds crazy but they always like going places with good internet since we all playing pokemon go and even our personal mobile does not want to work here either for some reason just frustrating to them however really the only con and if we can't go one dinner without internet we are...

My wife and I stopped here on the last day of our vacation in New Braunfels. Our meal included a large Queso, stuffed jalapenos, mixed fajitas, poblano chicken, and a Big Red Rita.

  1. The Queso was big and filling. It goes very well with their salsa, which was very good!
  2. The chips were a bit of a disappointment though. It almost tasted like store bought Tostitos.
  3. The mixed beef and chicken fajitas didn't have a lot of flavor. They did give a good portion of guacamole, tortillas (5! I'm used to only getting 3 from most Mexican restaurants) and lettuce to add to the fajitas. I was a little let down that the Pico de Gallo was only enough for a spoonful for only 2 fajitas though.
  4. The Poblano Pepper Chicken didn't taste like Poblano, but had more of a Jalapeno flavor to it.
  5. The Stuffed Jalapenos tasted very similar to the style from Jack in the Box. They were spicy, and the queso inside was pretty runny.
  6. The Big Red Rita was by far the most colorful item on our ticket! Being from Texas, we love Dr Pepper and Big Red. This margarita DID have some of the Big Red flavor towards the bottom of the drink, but the biggest flavor we got on it by far was Strawberry. We were kind of disappointed that the Strawberry overpowered the unique flavor that is associated with Big Red.
  7. The bathrooms were VERY clean!
  8. Our server was very friendly.
  9. The restaurant was quiet, in a good way! Places like Pappasitos are very loud and can be hard to hear your server, or your family.

I know it seems like a lot of gripes, but at the end of the night we did leave full. I would be willing to revisit the Adobe Cafe again in the future, but I would prefer to try one of the other Mexican restaurants in...

We truly enjoy Adobe Cafe and appreciate everything it has to offer; however, I must express my disappointment regarding a change to one of their cocktails that I've noticed during my visits. The Dos-a-rita has always been my favorite drink to accompany my dinner, but three visits ago I observed a significant decrease in the amount of frozen margarita in my glass.

I mentioned this to our server who graciously took my drink back to the bar for a refill. While the margarita was restored to its previous amount, I noticed that the beer in the Dos Equis bottle was now about a third empty. It was evident that the bartender had lifted the bottle to pour beer into my drink to create the illusion of a full glass, which is quite deceptive.

I later spoke with a manager, who explained that the owner had requested this change to limit the amount of frozen margarita served. As a gesture of goodwill, the manager brought me a small separate glass of margarita to compensate for the shortfall. However, on my next visit, I ordered the same drink again and while it appeared to have more frozen margarita, this time the beer bottle was already a third empty from the start. It seems clear that the bartender made an adjustment based on my earlier experience.

We love Adobe Cafe, from the delicious food to the friendly wait staff, but I can’t help but wonder if the business is struggling to the extent that it necessitates compromising the quality of this...

The best part of writing this review is that when we embarked on our trip to the National Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston from NW Austin, we had never heard of Adobe Cafe and we hadn't planned on taking I-35 to San Antonio and going through New Braunfels. After a missed turn we ended up in Kyle and we just jumped on 35 to save time. We were hungry and wanted to grab a quick bite and then eat dinner later in SA. I asked my girlfriend to Google top-rated Mexican restaurants on our route and among a handful that popped up, Adobe Cafe was on the list. They were all within two miles of our location so we stayed on our route deliberating where to go. We could see 35 to our left so I told my girl that maybe we should just hop back on 35 and eat after visiting the cemetery. She agreed and just as we were about to turn left towards the feeder road, my girlfriend saw Adobe Cafe a hundred yards away on the right. We looked at each other and said, "let's stop there". The rest is history. There are no shortage of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin, but we want to be wowed by the food, the service -- all of it. We sat at the bar and Bailey was our server. She was wonderful. Then came the fantastic chalupas and the grilled Carnitas tacos! Oh, man...over the top quality, preparation and final result. It couldn't have been more delicious! You wowed us, Adobe Cafe, and we can't wait to come back.

Wanted to try someplace new today, so here we are. Absolutely a busy place. We came Saturday afternoon and had a 10 minute wait for 2 people. So plan ahead and realize you will have a wait. I have tried several Mexican restaurants since we have moved to Texas, and this place, by far, has the best salsa yet! Not all mush like most places. Had a little kick, but not so much that you are on fire. We would have actually purchased it if they had it up for sale. We both had taco plates. My spouse had the beef taco platter, and I had the fajita platter. Apparently, the beef tacos were amazing. They were inaliated very quickly. The Fajitas were good. They had a lot of flavor from the marinade and were very tender. I was a bit disappointed that they were just plain chicken and no onions and peppers. Any time I order fajitas, they come with onions and peppers. The homemade tortillas were amazing as well. The biggest shout-out goes to our server! I asked her name so I could put it on her, but I suck with names. I believe it was Julianna. She was amazing! One thing I've noticed since moving here is that servers don't necessarily pay attention to people who don't drink. We generally have to ask for them to refill my water or tea. Here I didn't have to. This young lady definitely took care of my drink and anything else we needed.
