Takeouts this time. Just as fast and courteous. Very fast. Did was what were ordered and got and tasty. Service with a smile. I also witnessed calm under pressure as young workers tolerated an irritated Customer. I want the one to be nosey but could discern that it was about the order type and a mix up. I can tell ya that it happens in the best of situations but what does not help is when a customer acts out to make things unnecessarily worse. From my perspective, and listening in because quite frankly I wasn’t going to leave the immediate area due to an irritated customer, it seems that the customer was the one who was misstating his order. He was very picky yet non-specific about his order. Things like going through the entire order (bags) to count the four tortillas when they were explained they were given additional courtesy tortillas. Mumbling under their breath the whole time. Having the young attendants bouncing in and out , in and out to service their every question and whim. Digging relentlessly thru the bags again. Wife coming in to check and appearing to be frustrated at her hubby. Then heading back to their vehicle. Then back again. It was sad. In fact I arrived after these folks, waited, received my order and left and they were still there as the wife watched me happily drive away. I could be wrong, of course. But I’ve been around 6 decades. I’ve seen a thing or three. The man was just giving off horrible vibes.
Why share this?
Great patience and kudos to the staff. It ain’t easy! Pay them well. They earn it often in ways upper management will never know. Yes, pay them well and in turn, they will tolerate a lot and represent your establishment well in return.
Great job! Great...
Read morethis part is a year old go below for updated review but im leaving it to show the improvements from my point of view. old part, this restaurant needs to find a manager we were there Wednesday night at 8ish. we got seated after a 30 minute wait, not bad. it went downhill from there. it took forever to get waitress just to get our drink orders. there was a gentleman and and toddler sitting at the table next to us that were seat way before us. he had been waiting for someone to take his order also. they took our order before his and we got our food before him. when he asked for a manager they accused him of being rude and obnoxious, which he never was. he was very respectful and calm the whole time while attending to his 3 year old. He had way more patients than i would of had then, then the manager had the audacity to give him a bill and arguedwith him in front of all of the restaurantabout it, he never got his food. I'm sorry Chuys but this was very unacceptable and not up to the standards I expected for a big chain like this.
want to update my review, I have added some stars as this particular location has improved a lot since it has opened. waiters and waitresses are finding their groves and the kitchen also. it has become a stop for us now instead of driving to San Marcos or San Antonio. just wanted to give cudos to Chuys New Braunfels...
Read moreI feel like the food wasn't the worst I'd ever haf but it wasn't as good per the price point. It's almost like a fake Tex Mex restaurant. This is Texas. You can find better quality Tex Mex restaurants everywhere and youre not supporting some huge corporation. Chuy's seems like a corporate take on something authentic. They charged over $2 for a tiny side of sour cream(a mom and pop tex mex place would never lol), the salsa was just watery tomatoes and raw dog jalapeños, the enchilada was super flat, the chips were nice, the chicken chimichanga was nice.
A small SMALL bowl of their "queso" is almost $10. That's crazy to me.
The staff seemed overwhelmed but it wasn't a huge restaurant and it wasn't full. Staff was nice tho
I tried their "tres leches churro bites" 6 tiny greasy fried dough nuggets and a caramel sauce Did not taste "tres leches" at all It looks like Jack in the Box churros. $5 for that seemed criminal
I think they make their money off of tourists that see it right off the highway and they get sucked in bc they don't know any better.
It's literally in a perfect location for people traveling either to Austin or to San Antonio....
It is also perfect for women who love a margarita, chips and queso combo (not salsa bc their salsa is no bueno) and don't mind having a $80 tab at the end...
