Beware of this place LGBTQ community! My girlfriend and I were cutoff and kicked out after one beer and one shot! It's a very weird story to be honest. So....it's a Saturday night and my girlfriend and I decide to try this bar out for the first time, it looks really cool and the music is a great change in taste for downtown NB. We arrive around 9:30ish and it's considerably busy which is to be expected. We get our IDs checked and head right up the stairs to the rooftop bar. Initially we were welcomed very warmly by this Hispanic gentleman that I find out later was an off duty bartender for the establishment and gave us his seats and even wiped the table top for us. Very sweet and kind, he made us feel comfortable right off the bat. So things are going good, we have a beer together and one whiskey shot and enjoy good conversation off the side not bothering anyone just having a nice time. The bartenders are all nice so everything seems fine until my gf who is Masc presenting gets up to go to the restroom. She gets back and I order us another round of beers. This is where the story goes sour....we're served our beers and then all of the sudden the security officer that checked our IDs originally came up to my gf and told her you can finish that first beer but I'm going to have to cut you off after that. The music in there was loud so I couldn't really hear what he told her. I asked him if he could repeat himself and he told me she was about to walk into the wall and she needs to be cutoff....now mind you, I'm the one driving us home and she's not a light drinker, neither of us is, so this small amount of alcohol consumed up to this point wasn't even enough to make either of us drunk or past any reasonable limits. She does have back problems and maybe that was observed? I'm not sure. In any case, I told him I was driving and what's the problem and he just says we don't want that kind of behavior in this bar, I tell him i understand and he leaves. I ask her if what he said was true and of course she says no because we haven't even been drinking enough. So now I'm looking at the these 2 new beers confused as to why we're getting cutoff and we decide whatever they already poured the beers let's just drink these and we'll leave. Not even 10mins goes by and one of the bartenders just comes by and takes away both drinks and the security officer comes back and says we need to leave......what just happened? Most bars let you finish your drink at least but we didn't even get halfway through the beers. And the fact that we were getting cutoff so early and kicked out was so uncalled for. We were dumbfounded. We weren't rowdy, loud or even bothering anyone. Why are we getting treated like this? Still don't know to this day and all we could think was that we were the only lesbian couple there maybe this has happened to others? So fair warning you guys! I have never been treated like that previously and we weren't obnoxious or showing inappropriate pda at all. Super confused and disappointed. I don't like to assume that people are still prejudiced in this day and age but obviously I was proven wrong. Safe to say we won't be going back after that...
Read moreLive in NB and went there with my wife one evening during the week to grab a bite and unwind after work. Were greeted by a very friendly officer-Molina- and given recommendations on food. He recommended sitting in the back porch. We went and sat down and waited for about ten minutes at a table before walking up to one of the girls handing out food. She informed us that we have to go up to the bar to order or we could order there. Once I placed my food order, I asked for a water and Diet Coke and was then informed that I would have to go through the bar to get those; mind you it was busy at the bar at just that moment. Any refills for water? Nope! Go back and fight your way through the bar. When I initially asked the bartender for a water and Diet Coke, she looked at me as if I had three eyes. When asked if I could have a can versus fountain, she snarkily said that would take up too much room to have cans. The girls serving the food were nice but never came up to us to ask if needed anything or would like to check out. I understand it’s not a restaurant but if you’re gonna have food with servers, at least train them to make rounds, close out tickets, or at least offer water refills; any alcohol must be ordered at the bar. Overall the food was good so that’s a positive. It’s early days but definitely need to work on execution when it comes to someone wanting to stop by for just a bite and watch the game. I think it’s appropriate to give every business a second chance and will edit review in a...
Read moreWent to this bar since all the hype is on it right now and had the worst night ever! This happened Friday, February 7, we got there about 6PM, went upstairs to check out the bar. We ordered a round of beers and checked out the menu, then went upstairs the bar and ordered food. Easy meals, hamburger and hot chicken sandwiche, how can they mess this up. Well an hour later, I get up to ask and order another round of beers, meanwhile a party next to us got their order and ordered after us. They apologize and ask what we ordered again. Not sure if the girl actually placed order at bar. Another 30 minutes pass and another girl comes by and says omg your food still hasn’t arrived? Nope, now another guy comes and says he is sorry the kitchen is backed up, but asks us what we ordered again. And he is sorry this never happens and wants to make sure we have a great time and enjoy the food. Says he is going to comp the food and bring fried pickles for free. 30 minutes pass and finally brings the fried pickles with our food. Great finally 2 hours later. Guess what, the burger looks like it was picked up off the floor. Terrible service, shitty food. Won’t go back to eat, maybe just drink… look at the burger they brought us! Mind you the top is from the ranch of pickles we didn’t put that mayo on the burger, it...
