Wow, I never thought I’d live to see the day when I’d taste something so delightful! At 82 years old, I walked into Gofer Ice Cream, unsure what to expect. My good friend Andrew liebau insisted I try a “banana split”—said I’d been missing out all my life. Well, I’ll be darned if he wasn’t right.

The handsome young man behind the counter was patient as I squinted at the flavors, though I had no idea what “cookie dough” or “rocky road” meant. In the end, I picked vanilla—simple, safe. But the moment that first spoonful melted on my tongue, I understood why folks go on about this treat. It was creamy, sweet, and softer than I imagined, like a little cloud of happiness.

I’ve gone here a handful of times and the ice cream is always good. However, yesterday when I went to the store it was completely filthy and super disappointing. The floors were incredibly sticky, as well as the counters and the indoor tables were visible dirty. It was horrifying. It made me wonder, if this side of the store is this dirty … I wonder what it looks like behind the counter. The ice cream is tasty. The service is not great. Our two servers were very involved with friends while making our order. So, we ended up with an overflowing sunday and a double scoop fit for a 3yr old. We are nice people and weren't rude or demanding...we just seemed to be the inconvenience before the staff could get back to their friends. Bummer, we really like icecream and a stroll through town.
