Worst food I have had in New Oreans. We dined here because others said it was great seafood. By great, they must mean the portions. Large portions do not mean great food. When we arrived, we were told the restaurant could only take cash, our first red flag. We were then told that the ATM inside the restaurant was not working another flag, not necessarily red, but a flag nonetheless. We then received some cold boiled potatoes sort of, kind of like you might receive warm bread in another restaurant. Cold boiled potatoes with butter, another red flag. We chose to try the charbroiled oysters, which came rather dry with no moisture in the oyster. We hadctried char broiled oysters in 5 other places, these were by far the worst They were grainy or sandy, I'monly guessing poor shucking.. Seasoning was also poor. We decided we would try the half platter as it had quite a few things we could try in one sitting. We also ordered the spinach salad with cucumbers, no tomatoes. We were surprised by the rather large platter that came our way. There was catfish, oysters, something crawfish, and shrimp. The only thing edible on the platter was the shrimp, Our waitress did not bring our food, so we didn’t see her for a minute. I actually love catfish, and this was bad. This tasted like the bottom feeder catfish are, which meant it was not fresh or cleaned properly. All foods were battered and had no flavor. They all tasted the same as if the same batter with the dirt taste addictive to the catfish. Not fresh, not good. Fries wete fried in old oil, which made them not edible. When we finally saw our waitress again, we complained about the poor taste of the food. She stated the manager would come and speak to us. We could hear the discussion in the kitchen as the manager was loud. He NEVER came to speak to us. Worst customer service, terrible manager, in the quarter(DO NOT GO!) We heard him sending her to tell us he could not do anything. Waitress comes out and says he will give us a discount because the kitchen is now closed. We say fine. She asks if we would like to take the food with us. Absolutely not!! My companion will typically eat anything even he didn’t want this. The manager took a whopping $7.80 off of our $120 bill. We had to go to an atm in a garage to get money. The manager never came out to apologize for the bad experience. If you are looking for good seafood, try dragos. This certainly is not it. If you want a bunch of tasteless food and poor sevice, this is your place. Sorry, I didn't take a b7nch...
Read moreThe total restaurant experience at this location was far beyond my expectations. There was a line at the door when I arrived, I asked the very professional and kind lady checking people in about the wait time. She explained that it was 20 minutes or less. It was only 15 minutes till we were at a table. The place was busy but highly organized. Everyone working there seemed to know their roles and was performing at maximum proficiency. Our waitress for the night was Jade (from New York) and was most knowledgeable and courteous. She was very aware of our needs during the meal and was extremely attentive to us while there. The food was delicious, I had the half seafood platter, which was overwhelming when presented, but it was so good we finished it with a little extra effort. The soft shell that topped the platter looked so good that I ate it before I took a picture of it. The meal begins with steamed potatoes, which seems to melt in your mouth. I highly recommend this restaurant and take your best appetite.
UPDATE: After having such an awesome experience on the first visit, I decided to return two days later before leaving the city to try other items on the menu. What a difference a server makes, this time I had a male waiter who was the exact opposite of Jade. He was impersonal, trying to do too many different things while serving customers. I observed him working in the kitchen, and working the dining room. Jade came to the table prepared to serve, like she arrived with the steamed potatoes, and had a pad to take down the customer order. This guy ask if we were prepared to order and committed it to memory by repeating our order back to us. The food did arrive and was correct, but we never saw him again at our table while we ate. When we finished our meal we had to wait until we could get his attention to get the bill. Oh I forgot to mention on this date while waiting to be seated we were informed that the credit card machine was malfunctioning, so it was requested that you pay the bill in cash. No problem with that because it was not the restaurants fault that the system was not working properly. The food was good and we left with our bellies full, therefore if your wait person does not meet or exceed your expectations, hang in there and the delicious food will...
Read moreDeanie’s is a cool for large parties. A lot of the food is shareable. Especially the platters of food. The server was Myron. He was a nice guy and our party was given whatever we needed. The servers bring out red potatoes to the table. What they don’t tell you is that they are SPICY. My 8 month old mouth was on fire. When we told the servers they say they come out spicy or bland. Everyday they come out different. Oh wow is all I could think.
They were unable to fry oysters on the night we went. They should have just said NO OYSTERS at all. I will come back to this further down.
Once the food started coming out I was amazed at how much was on a single plate. All I could think was everything was shareable. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and all I could taste with every bite is bread. And no it was filled with the little shrimp and just enough to cover the bottom of the bread. There was no po boy sauce and it was just very DISAPPOINTING. Everyone enjoyed the fried foods and said they were crunchy. The stuffed shrimp was a lot to bite into. By the way the shrimp was not clean. But everyone eats it to their liking. The salads were huge and for sure shareables.
Now back to the oysters. As you can see there was barely any oyster on the whole shell. When I asked the manager why they were so small. He wanted to sound so educated about oysters from the Gulf that really made him sound crazy. I told him I had never in my life seen oysters so small on the shell. He wanted to ask me where I buy them. I replied the store, California, Catalina Island and so on. They still insisted on charging $30 and 4 oysters were eaten. Not only that they charged and took the oysters from the table.
I also noticed a server walking through the restaurant eating. She then was putting an order in coughing all over the menu and not covering her mouth. It was just giving me germs everywhere.
Overall of your with a large party and are tipsy from Bourbon go here and share...
